Oh wow, where do I even begin on this one? Let's start with the way that I was treated by who I can only assume was the owner (maybe the manager?) I have never been disrespected soo much by a hospitality service employee in my life. I ordered a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger (the Yeti), a side of fries and a double whiskey on the rocks. The cashier that poured my drink gave me a single and when I confronted him about it, he showed me the jigger and said, "No, this is a double and this is a single." As I started to laugh at his severe lack of knowledge and training, the kid behind him said, "No, a double is two of those man." The cashier kindly fixed his mistake. When my burger and fries arrived, I shook some parmesan on my fries and tasted one... Barely hot. I then bit into my sad looking burger... Ice cold. I took the bun off to inspect it and it was most pathetic looking. I took my tray back to the counter and let the staff know that it was cold. They all seemed quite shocked and couldn't understand how that could be. I returned to my table to wait for a hot fresh meal. An employee brought my fries back to me and said, "these are still warm." I informed him that I wanted my meal hot, fresh and together, like I paid for. He stormed away astonished at the thought. A few minutes later another employee brought me another pathetic looking burger with my same (now cold) fries on the tray! At this point I lost my appetite, returned it to the counter and asked for my money back. An employee quickly snapped, "why, what's wrong now?" I told him that they served me the same french fries that are now cold. He proceeded to argue with me and told me that they weren't the same ones (I could still see the parmesan cheese on them) and that they mixed my fries back into their fry bowl because they didn't want them to go to waste. Wait... What!? That's against public health code!!! This is when the "owner or manager" stepped in and got very rude with me. He slammed the cash drawer open and says, "fine, have your money back! What was it, $15!?". I told him no, I just paid $30 for this. He yelled at me, "this burger doesn't cost that much!". The cashier behind him interrupted and informed him that I actually did pay $30. So he slammed $30 on the counter. As I left the building he followed me outside and shouted "go back to L.A. man!" Excuse me?? I'm not from L.A., I'm actually from CO. But if I were from L.A., what is the difference, what does it matter? Do you not like customers from L.A.? Now to the burger itself... From the one bite that I did take, it was the worst thing ever. How did this place win "Best Burger in CO"!? What a joke! The burger is a frozen, pre-formed puck that is steamed! It was awful! Burger King has a better burger, and I won't eat there! I advise anyone reading this to stay away and not support them in any way, as they clearly don't care about customers (especially...
Read moreSteamies Burger Bar in scenic Telluride, Colorado, proudly boasts the title of "Colorado's best burger," and while their creations are undeniably tasty, my experience left me with a hint of wit and a dash of disbelief.
Let's start with the sauces. Steamies offers a wonderful assortment of condiments, including the intriguing blueberry ketchup. Trust me, it's worth a try, as the tangy sweetness adds a delightful twist to your burger. However, their attempt at bacon mustard left me scratching my head. Mustard already possesses that zingy charm—it doesn't need an exaggerated upgrade of extra flavors to steal the show.
Now, let's sink our teeth into their flagship YETI burger. While it may sound like an adventurous expedition, it's essentially a cheese and bacon burger with a crispy crown of fried onions. It's a satisfying combination, no doubt, but the adventurous spirit falls short of true burger innovation.
As for the fries, they rely on the trusty frozen Krinkle cut variety, accompanied by a sprinkle of seasoned salt. They're decent enough to complement your burger, but don't expect them to reach the pinnacle of potato perfection.
Now, let's address the elephant—or rather, the price tag—in the room. My dining companion and I decided to split a burger, a side of fries, and indulge in two sodas. To our dismay, the total bill skyrocketed to an eye-watering $42. While I appreciate the artistry and quality, it's hard to ignore the pang of disappointment when you realize the quantity of food doesn't quite match the price.
Steamies Burger Bar, with its accolades and flavors, delivers a perfectly adequate burger and fry experience. However, if you're seeking both culinary delight and bang for your buck, you might find yourself feeling like a steam engine blowing off some overpriced steam. Nonetheless, it's worth a visit to taste their acclaimed burger creations, but be prepared for a bill that could make even the most experienced burger connoisseur...
Read moreWe made a big to-go order for 6 people while on vacation in Telluride and when we arrived back to our place, we noticed several items missing. We called back and they immediately said “oh yes, the items are here, you can come pick them up!” But we were too tired and it was too cold so we just asked for a refund. At first it was fine, but since several items had add-ons, I asked what the total being refunded would be just to make sure and the manager, Garett (not sure on the spelling) hung up on us twice without answering my question. I was pretty confused so I called and was sent to voicemail several times (16 times) Truthfully, I felt incredibly insulted that they were ignoring my calls, so I called them a final time using *67 to block my number and that’s how they finally answered. The front desk girl was new and when we asked for the manager I heard “they are calling again about their refund” and Garett said “just hang up”. She didn’t and eventually a great employee by the name of Omar (the kitchen lead) helped us while we could overhear Garett still avoiding giving us a simple answer and saying he was slammed and didn’t want to deal with it. Turns out, he had gotten our refund incorrectly the first time anyway. After all that, a girl in our party was still hungry and we had to deal with so much disrespect just to get our refund and now we are left with a really bad taste with this restaurant. The food was not bad, to be honest, but the disrespect is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced from...
