Before moving to Tulsa from California, I came to visit with my mom, to check out the town before my big move. Long story, short, she and I found The Chowhouse and ate there twice during our visit. I loved it then and I love it even more now. Now, a year later, as a Tulsa resident, The Chowhouse is my ultimate comfort. The team is amazing, so down to earth, genuinely kind, and efficient in what they do. Josh & Julie are usually the associates I engage with and I adore them both. I haven't made many friends here yet, so they're the closest thing I have to an acquaintance 😂 lol. Josh & Julie are great servers with even better customer service. The food is delicious. It's all warm, fresh, comfort food. The Mac & Cheese, the Chicken & Waffles & The Southwest Burger are the best things on the menu! You gotta try it. A great treasure in downtown Tulsa.

First time here, I’ve heard the food is SO GOOD, portions are huge and the prices are affordable. They were right on all accounts plus we had an awesome server, Lola. She had great recommendations. We started with the pucker chips, I wanted to try the cow fries for fun but that was a hard NO! 🤣 Definitely get there pucker chips, they’re perfect and not soggy. The catfish was perfect, SUPER moist and the breading was light and very crispy. Lola recommended I try the cwasabi (cucumber wasabi) with the catfish and she was right on. 👌 The spicy slaw is addicting! I could eat a tub of that on its own. I subbed my fries for salad since everything we ordered was fried. Lol Mom’s meatloaf surprised me, I’ve never had meatloaf with sausage in it. So Much Flavor! I will probably order that for myself next time.

Great service and great food. If you are looking for a unique and local place to dine in downtown Tulsa try this place. It is a blend of Southern Food, Soul Food, and Midwest Americana. We had a burger and fries, fried catfish plate, and pot roast. The pot roast was tender and flavorful, the burger was cooked perfectly, and the catfish was amazing. Most unique coleslaw I have ever had. It is spicy. They bring the heat by adding some diced jalapeno. It may be spicy, but it is crwamy and tangy, and you can't stop eating it. The server was great and the prices were the most reasonable we experienced on our trip from Kansas City, through Tulsa, to Dallas. The menu is not complicated, but what they do, they do well. Great food, great price, great atmosphere, very welcoming. I will stop here again.

UPDATE Contacted the restaurant and spoke with Stephanie (manager? owner?). She had already been appraised of the situation and was "glad I called." Our server from yesterday was actually terminated in part because of the terrible service and I was told the manager that I was unhappy with was new and overwhelmed. I can understand that since there was an entire restaurant full of unhappy diners.

Stephanie urged us to return and told us there would be a gift certificate waiting for us so that we could try the place again. Goes to show that great management can really turn it around. Plan on returning very soon. Will update review on our experience.

Went in for brunch on a Sunday around 1 pm. Very very disappointed. Service was slow and almost non-existent. Was told repeatedly that they "were slammed" because they "had a huge party upstairs." I've been a waitress, I know that can suck, but I certainly don't need to feel like second class citizens because their needs are more important.

Wasn't greeted by our server for almost five minutes and waited another 8-10 for drinks (water at that!). Ordered immediately. Appetizer took almost 35 minutes for friend pickles. They were decent, but geez!

My eggs were undercooked (after expressing how adamantly I wanted them not runny at all or I would send it back--squeamish!) after I had watched my meal dying in the pass while my husband's chicken and waffles was prepared. Naturally mine was cold. Sent it back and told them I would just prefer it taken off my check. I wasn't waiting another hour to get replacement food! Husband's waffle was undercooked and the rest was certainly nothing to write home about.

Server was at least apologetic but the manager's comments included, "I'll be blunt our kitchen staff can't handle this" and "nothing we can do about it." She then proceeded to ask us what we were willing to pay. What?! I certainly don't go out looking for a free meal, but there is no question that the entire meal should have been comped.

I will not be going back and will be contacting the owners. You need to have either great service or great food. Unfortunately we got neither. The manager had a chance to save face but she definitely dropped the ball in my...

How do you say enough in words to understand the quality of a place. Most of the time when you show up as a few of the last people right before closing, you usually expect not so good quality food but... This place out did themselves for serving late arrival's. I can only image what it would be like at normal time. Our server was Crystal and she was so sweet and so patient and kind. Even after a long Sunday she was still an absolute angel. As for the food, it was unbelievably amazing! Husband got the chicken fried steak and all I can say is it was HUGE! everything about it including the simple gravy was outstanding. I ordered the chicken and waffles and literally all I can is OMG HEAVEN! the chicken strips were awesome size and the seasoning was amazing and the juiciness was delicious and then you add the syrup and waffles and you have heaven! I also had the steamed broccoli and it was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning. Now to add on top of it all were the alcoholic drinks. Let's start with the Ultimate Margarita. It was astonishingly SMOOTH! a Scary smooth, lol. But then there's the Caramel appletini...OMG! Again sooooo smooth and the cherry at the end was perfect! I then ended it with what I consider a desert drink... The hot apple pie drink and it was just.... So good and smoooooooth! Let's say all drinks are a scary smooth but oh so good. This was the VERY first time visiting and we will most definitely go back. Also, the pricing for everything... I hope they don't change a thing because the prices were fantastic for today's economy for the quality you get. Thank you!...

I've been here on three different occasions in the past year. The first two times were before a concert at the Brady Theatre. This is within walking distance and they had a special menu set up for the high volume of customers they were anticipating. Despite the fact that it was packed, we only waited a few minutes for seats and the service was amazing. The food was even better. It was my first time eating there and it was spot on. Huge portions, great presentation, excellent high quality diner type food. Second time, we ate at the bar and had some great drinks. The bartender was friendly and made a huge mixed drink for me (3 glasses full for the price of one). Again, the food was perfect. This last time, we went as a large party and were accomodated just fine, even though there was already a party of 10 and a party of 8 dining when we came in. The food and service was perfection.

The fried catfish- white, crisp, not fishy, large fillets. AMAZING. The chicken tenders- breast pieces, delicious, with great fresh fries. Ranch is to die for. The pot roast- tender, delicious, red mashed potatoes are great, seasoned well. Kobe Burger- need I say more? amazing. The grilled chicken club- amazing and huge. The chicken fried steak- soo good! they run out sometimes, one of the best things. The chicken fried chicken- super great too. The macaroni and cheese- homemade. delicious.

Love the modern hip staff and the decor. Totally what the new revitalized downtown...
