We got to Tybee Island and looked everywhere for a paid parking and there was none to be found. Weâve never been to Tybee Island before. We drove around and found a side street that said âparallel parking onlyâ so we parked along with about five other cars, got out and enjoyed our day and came back. The lady had just written us an $80 ticket ($100 if not paid in 1 week). We tried to talk to her and showed her the sign. We asked where the sign was that stated âno parkingâ. She said, â it must be the block up. We told her we never drove up that far. Didnât matter. We called the next morning to dispute it because there was no signage saying no parking it just said âparallel parking onlyâ which to us meant it was allowed. And everyone on that street thought the same thing. They all got tickets. When you call and dispute, the lady gives you the same runaround and a rehearsed speech. She says thereâs no free parking on the whole island. We wonât be back. This is terrible for tourism. If their purpose for ticketing is to raise money for beaches, they should think about their tourists who visit the beaches. And I do hope they read their reviews. Poor...
Read moreMy family visited this weekend (my husband is in the military and is currently working in Savannah) and parked a few streets over from the lighthouse where a lot of other cars were parked and walked to it for the tour. When we got back to our car we had a $47 parking ticket (as well as the other 10+ cars parked there. We never saw anywhere where we needed to pay to park or else we would've parked at the museum where we toured. We tried going to the location on the ticket to talk to them, but they were closed (it was right at 5 on a Saturday). My husband called today and the lady said as long as the city posts one sign as you come into Tybee it is legal and if he would've came in within 24 hours they may have been able to do something-we tried going to their office and calling and leaving multiple voicemails. We had to pay the ticket today that I feel it is just a sleazy way to get money... we visited Savannah as well as Hilton Head and parking rules were clear in those locations; we don't mind paying to park, but being fined $47 to park where there's no pay to park signs is not right and we will never support Tybee Island...
Read moreI genuinely loved tybee until today. Last summer as you can see I spent most of my time out there .Unfortunately my tag has the letters and numbers of i11 which on a tag is sometimes mistaken. I was out there one day and noticed I had been ticketed (Even though the tag had been like this every time Iâve gone) I called up there and questioned noticing it was indeed on my end I printed the tag wrong. They nicely said no problem we will handle it mistakes happen ! Come around all the way to now a year later I get a letter stating I was in debt 90$ from a parking ticket .I once again call and eventually get a call back for them to say I had been ticketed twice last summer In which I was unaware of .I stated I have not had a second call or a letter or been made aware about this âsecond ticketâ and unfortunately there was nothing they could do other than have me pay this 90$ out of pocket. I get if there was no proof of payment but a miscommunication in a ticket on there end and proof I did indeed pay...
