Georgianne Inn — Hotel in Tybee Island

Our "Ocean View" terrace turned out to be the Georgianne Inn which was three houses back from the ocean with no ocean view. The staff was very short with me when I called about the location mix up. The lady stated that I was put in the Georgianne Inn because I didn’t pay enough to stay in the Terrace that I originally booked through Orbitz. I think that $356.00 a night is plenty to stay in Terrace 3 myself. The Georgianne Inn is online for $255 a night. When I got orbitz to resolve the mix up all Desoto would refund is $150.00 off of the total I paid for 3 nights….I am no math professor but $101.00 differance per night is not $150.00.

Night two I called and complained about no parking and the lady was rude at the front desk. I was told to just pull in the grass and she hung up on me. I was already furious about the mixup about locations and now I have to park in the grass, walk farther to the beach, we have no beach view and have to still pay a premium price. Our nightmare didn't end there for the 3 days.

They do not provide any cleaning services for the Georgianne Inn. So by day two we were out of clean towels. I requested more clean towels and we got 1 for the 4 of us. They only give you 1 garbage bag, no travel size box of detergent was in our unit but there was a sample size fabric softener (I guess they want you to wash your own towels, or at least freshen them up with downy), 1 tiny dish soap with no sponge to wash dishes which they tell you that must be washed prior to departure. Then after you run out you are required to supply your own. This unit does not have a dishwasher nor a washer and dryer. Which the terrace did have that I originally booked. (make sure you bring plenty of change to pay for the washer and dryer)The coffee maker was extremely dirty and the filter had not been emptied from the previous guests! Disgusting!

Day three finally arrived and upon checking out the staff did not ask how my stay was while checking out. They really didn't seem like they cared. They just made sure I returned the two keys or I would be charged a $100 replacement fee. I feel that it was very overpriced for what we got. I would not stay here again. If I am going to supply my own amenities and clean my own towels, clean up the unit better than I received it then I will just get a much, much bigger condo down the beach for much much cheaper price. I had just came from Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head Island and didn’t pay this much for the two nights we stayed with them and it was a whole lot nicer. I will never stay here again. This was my first visit to Tybee Island & to Georgianne Inn. First week of Aug I turned 40!! You check in at the Desoto Hotel upstairs. We changed & went to the beach & waited for our room. Weather wasn't great! Beach is very clean. It's a well kept place outside, the inside could use some help. The room we stayed in was G4, no kitchen, just a microwave & fridge. It was plenty of room for the 2 of us. The A/C was great! The bed was very uncomfortable, the walls & doors had fingernail polish all over them, the inside shower curtain protector had mildew all over it. I took it off & threw it in the floor. Nasty! They don't vacuum under anything! The coffee pot was just rinsed out, not washed. Brown stain in the bottom of it! Paper towels that were left for us to use had food all over the top of it! Thank goodness I bought my own! The ice machine area is gross! The pool is very clean & pretty! Pool Hours close at 8pm, to early! We had to listen to a child run around upstairs all night all hours! That was annoying! The beach wasn't to crowded. We walked to the Pier from the beach & highway. Its maybe a block. Very close! Very friendly people! The staff I watched talk on her phone. Pull her car around right in the way of us taking pictures. Rude. Then I see her making the bed next door. Slow as a turtle. No wonder you can't check in till 4pm they take forever talking on their phones! The drive way is beautiful! The place is very pretty at night lit up! They have a grill, swing, patio chairs with umbrella's! It is walking distance to restaurants, bars, shopping & ice cream! If you drive to places, you have to PAY TO PARK. The MAN checks ALL the cars! You better pay! They are serious about that meter! Expensive food! Sting Ray's, Coco's, Crab Shack, The Breakfast Club & Sunrise Cafe were all very Good! Make sure you go to Wet Willie's Slushy Bar best ever!!! The location is right in the middle of everything! I Love Tybee Island! I would stay here again hope they clean...

Never again. The place is rundown and filthy.

The good: The location is amazing. The size of the 3 bedroom suite is quite spacious. The kids loved the pool.

The bad: Check in is at 4pm. I called about early checkin and was told that the rooms wouldn’t be ready until 4pm. That’s fine, early check in is not a guarantee. We arrive for 4pm and the rooms aren’t ready. I ask for an ETA, they weren’t sure. We weren’t able to completely checkin until after 5:30pm. The really irksome part was when the associate on the phone tried to tell me some incorrect take about check in times like I’d never checked into a hotel before. The tv in the sitting area of unit 4 didn’t work. They came to look at it but we’re unable to fix it. The air conditioner in the sitting area of unit 4 was leaking causing the sod and carpet to be soaked. They were able to come and fix it. The dryer in unit 1 didn’t work. They came to look, but we’re unable to fix it. One of the tv remotes was missing in unit 1.

The ugly: Please do believe the reviews about needing to bring your own cleaning supplies. After having delayed checkin, the rooms should have been spic and span, right? Absolutely not. The floors looked like they hadn’t been cleaned, at all, in either unit. The refrigerator in unit 1 was filthy, we had to clean it. The areas around the beds in unit 1 had trash, dust and dead bugs which indicates the areas hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. There was a musty smell in unit 4 due to a leaking air conditioner. The shelf where the refrigerator sits was pretty filthy in unit 4. We also had to go and sanitize all the the bathroom surfaces because they...
