Hallway has a nasty smell, and hotter then it is outside. My mom turned what she thought to be a air conditioning unit on. Had a very hot wire smell from it. Set the fire alarm off. So I call very fast to tell them I mean smart thing to do right ? But the man that was rude came to check. He walks over pushes buttons. Turns looks at me saying it's the heat that she had turned on. Ok, he said it was burning the dust off it down in their. Walks off without a smile, a sorry, nothing. I'm like ok I pretty much knowed it was burning something I mean sets a fire alarm off yes it's burning sir. He never checked things out other then pushing buttons. Not the right thing in anyway you look at this part. We thought oh well gotta look over this. We had paid was told no refunds after 3 days before checking in. I couldn't afford that to happen. So we put up this this treatment. So nah I probably won't be back. But I do hope for the lady to find her another job, where she will be treated as nice as she is at the front Desk. I'm at the end of a hallway and theirs no light, I dislike that very much. Very close to the pier, we like that. Enjoyed the entertainment from one end end all the way to the other. Will be here for 3 days I was told. The lady at the front Desk is very nice always has a smile and say hi. But the older man here could use some lessons from her. He us rude doesn't try pleasing guest at all. This was the first person we talk to getting here and it discourage us bad. My family and I were ready to say we are leaving. I'm very easy to talk to. I look over a lot of rude people, things going on around me. If I'm gonna pay their price for no more then I get for it, I expect to be treated nice, I understand people have bad days. If this was the problem before staying around messing up peoples vaction, go home, off to your self, find a happy place. Because this is my time, with my family, I've travelled hours to enjoy time with. We didn't come to worry that every time we walk out or in we got to deal with being disrespected. The lady here was doing all she could to be nice, To help us, make us feel welcome. Just a very sweet lady with respect for others. But this man working beside her I've been talking about was even rude to her. If it had been me, I would have told him. These people walked in and over to me. I'm helping them anx doing a great job at it. I would have agreed 100% with her. If she would have and told him to step away. Go do your job and I'll take care of mine. Sorry if this offended you sir, but you truly disrespected my family, as well as the employee working beside you. The first encounter we had reaching Virginia beach. My first thought, why didn't I go to myrtle beach. Or search more into finding a room in va, lesson learned. Thanking God all the folks here are not rude. I'm a West Virginia gal, where respect is high in...
Read moreSome major issues, but good location, friendly (mostly) staff, clean rooms. When we went it rained and was cloudy and cold all weekend, but they have a heated outdoor pool, which is GREAT! We did however have a big problem with the cafe on site. We went for breakfast our first morning and ordered eggs, sausage, and pancakes. My husband also tried to order hash browns, but the waitress kept “jokingly” interrupting him as he was trying to order and then forgot to ring in the hash browns, so we never got those. The wait for our food was around 25 minutes, which I thought was a little much considering the items that we ordered and we were only 1 of 2 tables at the time. The GIANT problem was when our food was coming out, I saw the cook actually throw my pancakes (yes, they were airborne) with her bare hands through the order window onto my plate that the waitress was holding. The waitress brought the plate over and I asked if the cook actually did what I thought I saw her do and the waitress confirmed that yes, that happened. I told her that I couldn’t eat that (the appearance of the kitchen and cook did not suggest any aspect of cleanliness) and she offered to have the pancakes remade. Unfortunately, seeing what I saw ruined the entire meal. My husband and I began to question EVERYTHING about our meal. We also heard the cook mention that she was really behind on doing the dishes, which I can only assume means she doesn’t wear gloves for that task either, or wash her hands in between cooking and cleaning dirty dishes. All of these issues were brought to the owners attention and we were refunded the $20 we spent on breakfast (the manager said, “I’ll refund your breakfast, but I don’t know what else I can do.”), but the damage was done. There were also several remarks made by both the waitress and cook that were troubling including, “The customer is not always right, I know better than they do what they ordered.” and “Tell them to hang on a minute, I forgot to cook that ticket.”When the cafe and the rest of the hotel are managed by the same person, the health code issues we saw really turned our opinion of the place in a very negative way. If they clean up that one aspect of their hospitality, I think this place would deserve at...
Read moreI don't understand why the word Resort is in their name. Resort hotels have a large number and wide range of amenities and denotes luxury or at least feeling free of concerns. Yes Wi-Fi is included, but breakfast isn't. The cafe server with alcohol on her breath at 7am was fond of scolding her customers for not smiling or for being on their cell phones while she was visiting their tables to take their orders. It's not a resort inn, or even a very good hotel. You do get to watch the breakers, but you can do that from any of these oceanfront hotels.
This has to be the smallest footprint hotel I've see at Virginia Beach. Small cramped parking (watch out for the dumpster on the lower level parking) with a ridiculous one lane ramp for two-way traffic to the upper level, a small foyer entry way packed with stuff, small cramped corridors, smallest outdoor hotel pool I've ever seen, small balconies, etc. The room wasn't very small, but the TV was. And the "jacuzzi tub" was barely large enough for one short-legged person.
Signage was sparse. The elevator inspection certificate was not on display in the elevator as required by the Virginia Building Code, but the full cafe menu was. And I still haven't found the ice machine or vending machines.
The decor was seriously dated, circa late 90's: popcorn ceiling, peeling wallpaper, cracked lamp shades, rusty towel racks, stuck shower door, and tile floor throughout, not carpet?? A remodel/refresh is seriously needed.
The only reason it's not a 1 star review is because everything worked and the housekeeping did a nice job flipping the room (except they did initially forget an extra roll of bathroom tissue). If you book this place, do NOT overpay, use a coupon or something, and don't expect much so that you're not disappointed when you...
