The most disgusting dining experience I’ve ever had. You can call this place whatever you want — “Ocean’s 14” location, new “FishTails by Ocean’s” (apparently their rebranding) — but it was an absolute disaster from start to finish.
I understand bad servers happen. It’s unpleasant, but it’s part of life. What I’ve never experienced before is management being the most unprofessional, rude, and downright hostile part of the evening.
My husband and I visited a few days ago, sat on the patio, and ordered drinks. Fun fact — every table around us had proper glasses or bottles. Ours came in plastic cups. I went to the bartender and politely asked for a glass for my wine (if I knew it would be in plastic, I’d have ordered a cocktail instead). The woman at the next table had her white wine served in glass, so why was mine in plastic? Instead of simply swapping it, the bartender gave me a little speech about “how disappointed he would be if I broke a glass on the patio” — again, the same patio where others had glassware. Then he handed me a clean but soaking wet glass.
Our server (dark hair, potato on legs, never introduced herself) recommended a dish, pointed at a plate on the next table, even got those guests to say how much they liked it. When our food arrived, it looked nothing like what she showed — what we saw was deep-fried, what we got was boiled/baked. I politely said, “That’s not the dish you pointed at”, and also noticed the menu mentioned asparagus, not broccoli. Her response, with attitude, was: “EAT YOUR FOOD” — and she walked away. No apology, no fix.
My husband went to speak to the manager, simply asking to address the tone the server used. Seconds later, I could hear my husband saying, “Can you please just stop yelling and hear me out?” — because the manager was shouting and swearing at him.
While he was trying to pay (mainly to make sure we weren’t charged for the wrong dish), our server stormed over, muttered something under her breath, ripped my plate out from under my fork and knife, took our still-full drinks without even asking if we wanted a box. When I asked about it, she told me I should leave immediately.
The bill? Supposed to be around $70. Instead, we got a $150 check with five dishes listed for the three we ordered — and technically two, since one was wrong. Oh, and they run your card before placing your order. Now I see why.
When I went inside to request the customer copy of the credit card charge, the server loudly announced, “Here comes another one!” At the bar, the manager — in a high-pitched, aggressive tone — told me to get out. When I calmly stated that, as a customer, I have the right to a copy of the receipt, he kept yelling at me and refused to provide it.
And the best part? Checking my bank later, the $150 magically became $200. Apparently, they just add their own tip and hope you don’t notice.
If we hadn’t been in a rush, I’d have called the police — yes, it was that bad. And I’ve worked in the service industry — I know things go wrong. But a manager’s job is to fix problems, not escalate them.
To the owners: I know you spent 9 years building this place, and I’m sorry to leave such a review. But your manager’s behavior was completely unacceptable. Summer tourist season might keep you busy, but with that attitude, your off-season will be missing the local customers who keep you afloat the rest of the year.
P.S. You might want to check your system — some mistakes on the bill make me wonder if there could be issues with staff handling...
Read moreWent here because they have lobster mac and cheese (pictured) and we could walk from our hotel. They had live music playing, it was stupid loud in the building seating area. It also looked like everyone working the floor looked confused as to what to be doing.
In saying this, we walk in the side door that had a sign to see the host to be seated. There was no host but a polite woman offered to get us menus and would have someone come over and get our drink order. We chose a place to sit as there were many open tables. The woman referenced above brought us menus and said someone would be out. A waitor came out and asked a few tables if they needed anything and then made their way to us. We ordered waters at first, they came out quickly, we ordered our appetizer and food and in the same interaction I ordered a pop. Dudeman that took the order disappeared after dropping the appetizer off. I never got the pop I asked for. The polite woman in reference to when we came in brought us our meals and I asked for the pop I was waiting for. She brought me the pop and a water. Dudeman still never showed up again. I was slightly annoyed that almost all the tables were getting put on the back burner because the bar was busy (which is fair. If you have people scheduled for the bar. They work the bar. If there are people scheduled to wait tables, they do that) but the polite woman, who was also working the bar, tried her best to keep the tables satisfied too. When we got our check and went to pay, I asked for the pop to be refunded as I got one with no refills (because she was busy and dude that was supposed to be waiting tables disappeared). We discussed that yes, I did order the pop and I did get it, but I got one, it was empty pretty quick. She understood where I was coming from and apologized a bunch because her coworker disappeared. I let her know it wasn't her fault and hoped she didn't get a hard time for doing that. Before we walked away, she was already off helping other people so I asked for her name - Jaz or maybe Jazzalyn - and I want to note her amazing above and beyond service that she didn't have to do. She was handling everything thrown at her the best she could. All while keeping a friendly face and smiling. Not very often does this happen nowadays.
The food was good. No complaints there. Still never saw dudeman the waitor again, hopefully he's alive and not...
Read moreThe service was very poor. The food that we ordered was cold and or overcooked. Our server Lauren kept walking past our table looking in our direction purposely ignoring our party. We were sitting waiting on drinks and food that was ordered over an hour. There was no apology, or any acknowledgement that we even placed an order for things that were not brought to our table when we ordered them. The tables were not cleaned off even after it was brought to the attention of staff. We didn’t receive enough silverware to eat with. We were not given napping with our meal. Several(3-5 tables) patrons with the same amount of people in their party came in ordered, were served, ate, given their check and were able to leave before we were able to even get our food and drinks. The server forgot who ordered what and was just giving tickets out to any and everyone at the table expecting them to just pay that bill. It took over 45 minutes for her to get tabs correct and bring us the correct bill to pay. We asked to talk to the manager(Johnny)came out and talked with myself and my wife. He apologized for th service and food because he witnessed the food that had been sent back to the kitchen first hand. Johnny asked why we did not say anything sooner because the service and the server that we had to deal with was unacceptable. We were hoping that the service would get better and that we would eventually receive the food and drinks that we were ordering in a more timely manner. We were a party of five people that were conversating with at least three other people who were being served by the same server and receiving the same service and food problems that we were. This was one of the worst experiences that I have ever endured at a...
