Update September 2024: Amazing customer service today. My order was going to be late so they called to let me know. Everything was cooked perfect and the sandwiches were extra full. They forgot the sauces but who cares, I have dipping sauces for wings here. Still the best Italian cold cut sandwich in dc and amazing service.
Update July 2024: They still make the best Italian sandwich and the wings are good.
They forgot my dessert on this last order and the sauces for the wings keep getting mixed up. With that said I’m ordering on Saturday at dinner which is a busy time. And it’s a rainy day so they’re likely swamped.
I have no doubt they’ll refund the missing dessert, and I’ll order again. But it is not the first time it’s happened so if it happens to you be patient. They’re a small business and they do make amazing food.
If they ran out of the smith island cake I would have been happy to change out for tiramisu. Nobody called me or anything to ask so who knows. Overall I love them and will order again, but it would be nice to know if I am getting everything from the order and if I can change out if they run out.
Original: I’ve been ordering from old city market and oven for a couple years now. Best Italian cold cut sandwich in dc, and their blue cheese dressing is really unique.
If they heat up and bake the sandwich it is even better, but they don’t always remember.
Update June 2024: Still eating here a few years later and everything is equally amazing. They changed the sriracha they use which isn’t as good but everything is cooked to perfection and...
Read moreI typically always forget to write google reviews but this place deserves every word I have to say. I found this spot because the luggage storage app, bounce, sent me here to hold my bags while I toured apartments for the day. Before I left my bags, I decided to try a quiche which was so much better than expected. Growing up in my father's deli, I tend to have high standards for most food because I can usually recognize good ingredients so safe to say I was definitely pleasantly surprised with my quiche. Around mid-day I fell walking around in NoMa and severely hurt my knee. Rather than continuing my tours for the day I decided to come back to pick up my bags and potentially go to the airport to arrive early for my flight. When I got to Old City Market and Oven, they actually gave me ice for my knee and let me sit downstairs uninterrupted. While I was downstairs the cashier told me to call the number in case I needed anything so they can come down and help because they didn't want me walking up the stairs for anything stupid. To say they were sweet was understatement, the level of care I received felt like I was in one of my dad's restuarants growing up which in my opinion is not something you see these days. I decided to have a pizza while I waited because another customer said it was amazing. Even though I was skeptical due to the paper menu, they really did their big one with that pear pizza. This spot really made my day and it makes me happy establishments at this tier...
Read moreWe just landed in DC for vacation and were waiting on our Air BNB. We walked down to Old City Market and Oven. We were greeted by a wonderful gentleman, but we didn’t get his name. He asked if we needed to store our bags and we laughed and said yes, thinking he was joking. He stored our carry-ons. There is a great area downstairs to sit and relax. The iced coffee was delicious. The personal pizza was cooked to perfection. This store has a little bit of everything. Fresh bread, stuffed grape leaves, Mediterranean tuna salad, wine, sangria and so much more. We met Brittany who sells bags of surplus food. My pictures have her info. The bags are amazing deals. Such a nice human. Although everything was amazing from the atmosphere to the food, what made this a memorable visit, was the young gentleman and his great personality. He gave us so many alternative suggestions on where to visit since our government decided to throw a temper tantrum and close. While I am here I plan on visiting every day for an iced coffee....
