This place has a nice selection of unique products that are rarely available at typical chain supermarkets. Some of which I've never seen on store shelves anywhere! As a horticulturalist, I've discovered countless varieties of fruits and vegetables that were once produced by local farmers across the country. Sadly, the majority of people have no idea these varieties ever existed! Over the past century, small locally owned farms have been replaced by multinational corporations that control nearly all food production in the USA. As a result, many heirloom varieties have disappeared along with the local farms that cultivated them. The massive corporate farming operations are focused exclusively on the bottom line. Unlike small town farmers who took pride in cultivating new varieties to enhance flavor and nutritional value, corporations prefer cultivars that are better suited to mass production and specifically engineered to maximize profitably. Overalls have been replaced with lab coats as scientists in laboratories genetically alter produce to be more resilient to environmental factors, increase yields with shorter harvest times, better resistance to damage during transportation, and have a significantly longer shelf life. A century ago, seed houses offered thousands of varieties in fruits and vegetables, but over the past 100 years, the USDA estimates 93% of those varieties have gone extinct. Today, only a handful remain on the national registry. In 1903, there were 544 varieties of cabbage, now only 28, there were 496 varieties of lettuce, now only 36, and the list goes on. While Sprouts can't resurrect extinct varieties, they do have a good selection of rarely found produce. Check them out and try something you've never...
Read moreVisited this store for the first time in January. Store gives me liberal vibes with all the beta males standing around looking for some feminist to tell them what task they should do next. Alot of people in blue shirts standing around talking or on their phones. Seen a very old lady doing laborious work while younger able bodied men/women stood around and watched didnt even offer to help her. Other employees doing almost nothing. Always out of stock. Low quality products that are GMO and enriched product. All the bakery items are enriched flour product. Couldn't be any further from a farmers market. The vitamin section is WAY over priced compared to other markets and Amazon. I found a product I use daily sold for $25 more at sprouts versus amazon. Stuff is everywhere. You would think to find a product in a certain isle and it's not there, it's located somewhere else completely. Their meat and seafood was significantly overpriced and i could tell by the colors alone that they were farm raised or low quality meat. I found shopping at Costco for the same product is way cheaper. I just bought goodles Mac and cheese 6 pack at Costco for $15 they are charging $4.50 a box here! If i had purchased 6 boxes from Sprouts almost $30. Steer clear. I did take pictures of items im going to email Publix/Costco about carrying in the future. One was a probiotic sour cream and the other was sourdough with only 5 ingredients. Save ur money. This place is not worth shopping at in...
Read moreI was at this Melbourne location since I was visiting from Houston. I frequently shop at Sprouts in Houston, and there the customer SATISFACTION is THE AIM OF THE STORES I have frequented in Houston. In this one, the associated neither greeded me or even asked me if they could help me find anything. The employees seemed to be having conversations with each other without ever addressing one customer to help or assist with anything. What took the cake was when I asked ONE OF THE MANAGERS (DARK BLUE SHIRT) , Megan, for help. She was putting was products back on the shelves when I asked her if she could see if they had a NEWER box of the specific tea I needed in the back because the box that was on the shelf was damaged (opened & smatshed) ?? Her response was ...No, we have no more & didn't even scan it to check the inventory ( which all the other Sprouts stores I have visited have done in the past ) . She also did not take the damage box out of inventory and just left it on the shelf. I was surprised she didn't pull the damaged box off the shelf and also, that she did not spend time with me( or asked an associate) to assist me find a similar tea product or even ask me if I would come back when a new delivery of the product would be in...NOTHING!! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was said or even any assistance offered...It was a terrible experience & I hope these employees learn that the customers are FIRST & without them NO SPROUTS...
