Wichita City Skatepark — Attraction in Wichita

Really nice skate park, sketchy location. I've been to this skate park a few times. This time when I went, the skate area was on the west, then the east side was like a homeless encampment similar to what I've seen in Colorado Springs. There were multiple tents and it was dirty. The people at the skate park were friendly enough, and shared the skate area, no foul language or shady behavior. However, I wouldn't want to leave my kids there unattended, and they're teenagers. My son and daughter LOVE this place. You hear occasional language but usually nothing bananas. These amazing, local, young people skating here also engage, teach, and encourage my kids when they are struggling with a skill. Occasionally you get people who don't pick up after themselves, but it's rare- we dig this place for sure... And we don't mind helping keep the place clean! It's...

Last time I went through there and I saw a bunch of kids skating.. I stopped to ask some parents what was going on, they informed me that they were having a candlelight vigil for a dead friend of theirs. So very sad but so cool that so many of them came together at the skatepark to celebrate...
