The hotel is quite simply AWFUL. Just a short ride from ICT airport we booked here for 3 nights while awaiting to check in to our long term accommodation. We were collected from the airport by the hotel shuttle service (although I did have to call whilst waiting as nobody arrived - they did then arrive approx 20 minutes later). We were greeted by a group of homeless people wandering about the car park. Upon entering the hotel the smell was immediately disgusting - a sulphur/sewage smell that only got marginally better in the days we were there. We were checked in by a lovely man, and we went to our room on the 4th floor. It was small and the pictures on the website are certainly from several years ago or filtered! The room is incredibly dated and did not feel clean! After a 16hr flight we decided to shower and rest, so ordered pizza and had an early night. At approx 2.30am my son and I were woken by what sounded like a woman being attacked in a nearby room. She was screaming and shouting for approx 30 minutes and a male could be heard arguing back. As a female travelling with my teenage son I did not feel comfortable going out there, and regrettably did not think to contact the front desk by phone due to being jet lagged and tired. At 6.30am I went to reception to inform them of the problem and ask them to check that nobody was in trouble on the 4th floor. The man in reception was lovely but said nobody had contacted them about a problem. I asked them to check CCTV and they said they would. They also offered to move us to the 5th floor which we accepted. We had no further problems with noise after this. My son and I both received multiple bites that first night - o never seen any bugs but I daren’t look to close at the mattress etc. the beds are very springy and the pillows are tiny!! The whole hotel is incredibly run down. The corridors are worn and dingy - they are hot and no air circulates outwith the rooms! The breakfast is questionable able in terms of hygiene and quality - although the self made waffles are delicious. The rooms are serviced every 3rd day although you can request more towels if needed. The gym is work and dated, the laundry was out of use. The pool area is often out of use and although also worn and dated did get cleaned daily. The hotel do not seem to do anything about the homeless people that camp out in the rear car park and approach you as you enter/exit the hotel grounds. The only positives I can say about this hotel is the room air con is good and the airport shuttle service good. It is most definitely nowhere near a 3 star. Wyndham should wash their hands of this company that use their name!! Really and truly avoid this hotel at all costs, spend a little more and go to the better chains in the old town or a little further out of the city. I was so incredibly relieved to leave and will...
Read moreAvoid!!! We booked through Expedia so we have to get a refund through them. We booked for this weekend of August 4-6th. Everywhere was booked full. When we went to check in the lobby was full and it was very humid and hot. There was one man booking people in. We noticed that there was a lot of issues with the people trying to check in and lots of disgruntled people who had checked in. One of their rooms had no AC.. one room the key wasn’t working. When we finally were able to check in about 30 minutes later with standing in line we were sweating and hot. We were booked on the 4th floor room 406. It was tucked away in a corner. It did not look up to date and looked unclean. The first thing I did was check the beds. The sheets did not look clean and had stains on them. I continued to check under the sheets to the mattress which was very old mattress and brown and stained and the seams of the mattress were falling apart and had holes. My kids were with me and found bed bugs!!! And yes they were alive! I took photos and a video and while checking their bed further there was the top sheet which had been turned around bc there was a stain or food or something unknown on the top of the sheet that they just tucked under the end of the bed. We didn’t check any further and grabbed our things and got out of the room! There was no apology from the front desk and was told to get the refund from Expedia. Please check your beds first! We ended up having to book a whole other hotel 20 minutes outside of Witchita for a decent clean place last minute. It’s a bummer and now have to spend extra money we didn’t budget for until we can get a refund! Beware of this place! The area is downtown are but the homelessness and drug activity is prevalent!
Update 8-11-2023
Do not expect a refund!! After we found the bedbugs and unclean room and sheets they told us we have to call and get the refund from Expedia bc that’s who we booked through.. we filed the claim and had to wait 72 hours!! This hotel declines ALL claims! They stated as soon we sign and checked in it’s the hotels policy that we agreed to forfeit ANY REFUND!!! We were not disclosed this policy!!! It’s not posted anywhere!! It’s not on anything you signed when checking in and it’s not listed on Expedia!!!!! It’s BS for our total of 10 minutes maybe to leaving with losing $280 for this is the worst experience!!!! The BBB needs to be called by everyone who has had this experience or worse so this place can be shut down!!!! A bunch of crooks run this place and they shouldn’t be allowed to take peoples money without a consequence for allowing people to experience this!!! Purely awful and honestly you’re robbing people of hard earned money for a...
Read moreWe stayed here one night on a short getaway. We had one of the split rooms for our kids. 1 king and two beds suppose to be 2 queens. The beds were a full and a queen in the other room.
The lobby: There was construction going on in the lobby. Something about removing a bathroom in the lobby and putting in a snack counter. The staff was short and not very welcoming. We were told, I'm charging this amount to your card and then the worker left the area. The check out process was even worse. No one asked how was your stay or anything. We had to ask for the itemized bill for the room.
Elevator and hallways: The travel to the room was discouraging as there were holes punched in the walls by the elevators. Looks like they wall papered the inside the elevators. The carpet was dingie definitely had some age on them.
The room: We stayed in was not overly terrible. The furniture was not matching the fake leather desk chairs and ottoman were cracking and peeling. The bedside tables had knife cuts in the top and sides. It looked like someone used a pocket knife to saw into the edges. The tvs were from the 90s. The Cox cable was nice to have the only issue the TV could not handle the high Def programming. The ac unit was controlled by the hotel not the visitor. I got up three times in the night to turn down the AC with no luck. It was very warm at times.
The bathroom: was clean. One of two issue we had was; we had to remove the lid on the toilet and jiggle the float valve to get the toilet to prime the resivor (new float kit would help). Also, there was no hot water that night. Finally, the next morning, I was able to get a hot shower after running the water for over 30 min.
Outside of the hotel: The parking lot was small. The parking lot was not clean. The lack of handicapped parking is discouraging. I believe there was one at the front door and one at the side door. Also, the homeless population is living in the parking lot on the back side of the hotel and across the street by the bridge. This was not very comforting with children.
Check out: With a hotel in need of repairs and massive updates we asked at checkout if they are in the middle of remodeling the hotel. The answer gave by the clerk was " No, they are done updating the hotel, the only thing left is the snack area in the lobby." My wife and I looked at each other stupefied by the response.
In conclusion, this hotel is not going to get better as time goes on. With homeless living in the parking lot and outdated living conditions you are better off driving a few miles to the East Burrough to stay in a hotel. This is where my family and I will be staying...
