This experience is a bit entertaining. The kids (18 and 17 girls) really enjoyed the time spent on the tour. It was interesting to go into the houses. The stories were in-depth enough for children and adults alike. Here is what to expect for this walking tour. You will be walking for the next hour or so. There will be steps that you have to navigate to go inside the edifices. You have an option to take the side of the steps that has a handrail to enter the houses or you may go straight up without handrails...I'm not judging. The steps are lit by candle lanterns when it's dark. The rooms get filled by those on the tour and are generally dim for ambience and for period perspective. All stopping points inside buildings had some seating for older folks and for the middle-aged dudes currently experiencing the wonders of sciatica...that just won't go away! For dress you should wear comfortable shoes for walking on new pavement, old cobblestone, gravel paths, and wooden plank floors. Gets cool in the evening so bring a light coat to lend out to keep the complaints down, just saying. The staff was amazing and friendly on this tour. Some were positioned and chatty at each stop. They were helpful with supplemental knowledge. I swear everyone volunteering or working here sounds like they are working on a second PhD. The other volunteers hanging out in period clothing were apparently ready to go Colonial on you if you strayed away or detoured to take an unguided tour of the...
Read moreVery interesting historical location was able to use an EMF detector at each spot and got emf 3 and 4 one time never reached EMF 5 this trip - however the walk through old Williamsburg was pretty cool and a little spooky without the hustle and bustle of the normal tourist day
Our guide explained each spot very well and allowed use the freedom of doing our own ghost hunting at each spot
Weather was a tad chilly being 11pm to 1am I failed at bringing a hoodie but oh well
Walk/terrain for the most part your going to be on payment the sidewalk is brick and can be uneven at some spots but over all pretty simple 1 mile walk.
Overall it was fun from both a historical and ghost tour/hunt aspect. I would recommend if your in the colonial area. And parking wise cause each parking lot is weird at colonial williamsburgs just park in the parking garage and add how much time you think you will need. I think "all day" parking was like 12$ I was originally parked at the visitors center for colonial williamsburgs but it only allowed parking till 6PM. And side note I would recommend just spending your day in colonial williamsburg with how vast it is. Then go do the spooky side after you stay in that area after dinner or something most dinner places close at 9-10 from what I was seeing but mellow mushroom is nearby and was open...
Read moreFrom one Mom and Three kids (14,12,8). Our guide Patrick did an excellent job and his stories were great. Honestly the extended tour was our favorite part of the tour and easily the best value for cost. We started as a group of about 15 and then it was just our family of 4 on the extended portion through William and Mary, and by that time it was fully dark. We also rented two EMF detectors which was interesting for the kids but it only changed color near the cell phones. It is worth noting that this tour does not go inside buildings and the story tellers are not in period costume. Also we were struggling to figure out the parking situation and ended up 15 min late. Someone from the company texted us where to go to catch up with the tour, very grateful for that. Also I made the purchase on-line but never received a receipt or any further directions about arrival etc. some hints on parking would have been very helpful. We spent a full 10 min trying to figure out how to work the parking pay machines only to find out that parking was...
