We paid 50,000 soms per person to enter The Art Gallery. Inside, there are 2 floors with a central circular space around an atrium. Two stairs lead up to the upper floor, a big chandelier hangs from the ceiling.
The gallery is very spacious and well arranged, the paintings are presented with explanations in Uzbek, Russian and English. The majority of work is from 1909 to present day.
This museum has 15 rooms spread over 3,500 square meters. There is a conference room, lecture hall, small cinema hall, library and studio for masterclasses and workshops. There is a checkroom to leave visitor's coat, hat, etc. free of charge
The Art Gallery mounts international and local exhibitions, and hosts cultural events. The current exhibition is by Ural Tansykbaevich Tansykbayev a Uzbek Impressionist/ surrealist artist who introduced the genre in the USSR.

I was hesitant about going in the first place, but it ended up being one of my favorite art museums/galleries ever visited. I’m not usually a big art or museum person, but I ended up spending 2 hours there. There was a ‘Women of Uzbekistan’ exhibition going on when I was there, which showcased photographs that told the stories of the evolution of women rights in Uzbekistan over the past century. There were not a whole lot of paintings, photographs, and art pieces in the museum as compared to some big museums in other parts of the world, but what they had in the museum were really unique and interesting. Read moreFirst of all, the building itself is quite grand and impressive — it’s tall and beautifully designed, which immediately catches your attention. I visited on an Eid holiday, and unfortunately, the gallery was officially closed. However, I’m really grateful to the kind security personnel who allowed us to go inside for a quick visit.
Inside, we found many wonderful artworks, including paintings created by local artists and school children. These pieces truly reflect the cultural charm and artistic spirit of Uzbekistan.
