To break up the long drive from Kyneton VIC to visit family in Albion Park NSW, we decided to stay overnight in Albury. My fiancĂ© found the beautiful Circa 1928 Art Hotel Albury, âa luxury boutique hotel situated in the tree-lined Paris end of Dean Street, in the bold heritage-listed facade (the old Commonwealth Bank building) with its iconic entry columns create a sense of grandeur and drama as you arrive.
CIRCA 1928 (currently) has three uniquely designed, luxurious suites and studios, providing an exclusive feel to the hotel. In keeping with the hotelâs celebration of art and culture, each was cleverly named after renowned artists born the same year CIRCA 1928 was built.
All rooms feature their own luxurious ensuite bathroom, with walk-in showers, stunning deep bathtubs built for two, and bathing products from Australian natural skincare brand Hunter Lab. Well-stocked mini bars with chocolate, snacks, leaf teas, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.â.
We originally booked to stay in the Diddley Studio. Thereâs also the Warhol Suite, but Kevin (the host) very kindly upgraded us to the magnificent Hart Suite, in reference to artist Pro Hart, whose art âcaptures the lush colours, the sense of space and the spiritual quality of the outback in ways very few artists are able to emulate.â.
From the moment we arrived to check-in, our wonderful host Kevin, made us feel very welcome, and not just because of our complementary arrival drink, but his hospitality, professionalism, and relaxed nature.
We wouldnât hesitate...

Though plenty to do in the area, including within walking distance, revitalised river walk included.|Conveniently located between Sydneyâs Inner West and Geelong Spirit of Tasmania ferry service, almost a Surry Hills on the border of NSW and VIC. |Highly personalised service, with a H O S T (thank you) reminiscent of smaller boutique properties, absolute attention to detail, taking the time to chat about experiences sought in the area and so on, knowledgeable about dining options, suggestions given.|Got the Warhol.|In transformation post-Covid pandemic with more spa treatment rooms used differently. |Art and books (though I/ we would probably have set aside some of outside pavement/ ground floor for a coffee house/ may be wine bar/ deli/ special tastings zone).|Breakfast absolutely worldclass.|Out of all our/ my long term fav this one, Circa 1928, really stands out. |Old bank building leased for extended...
Read moreJust WOW - working in the hotel industry I am very lucky to stay in some amazing places however this is by far the best I have stayed in.
From the moment we checked in we felt relaxed. Evey little detail has been well thought out and executed through the property. The rooms where beautiful and clean, hunter amenities, free mini bar and an amazing tea selection to choose from in your room.
The little touches of the welcome drink and night cap where a lovelly but I have to say my favourite was the fact Kevin escorted us to our room and showed us where everything was. Itâs little details like this the hotel industry is really lacking at the moment.
Last minute we decided to do a couples spa treatment which they managed to go over and beyond to Accomadate. The treatment was so relaxing we feel like we have had a week rather then a night away.
Thank you so much for your hospitality Kevin + Ririn. We will see you in October...
