Thai Puka — Restaurant in New South Wales

Well, all the other reviewers were pretty much spot on. The restaurant has quite a basic fit-out with a rather sterile atmosphere. It's ok though and all that does not matter when the amazingly good food arrives anyway.

Portions are big, seriously big. I brought my whole family and for the five of us (ranging from 13 to 53 in age) we ordered four mains and two portions of rice for the two curries. Everybody rated the food between 8 and 9 out of 10. Well I am less generous but still, my chicken red curry came in at a solid 7, maybe 7.5.

No question, if we lived in Wangaratta and not Sydney, we would come back again and again.

One last hint, I was offered coconut rice with my curry and I thought I give it a try. Don't! It is very sweet, a bit like milky rice, it definitely does not go with a curry (imo).

Oh, and for the five of us I paid just under $100. No entrees, but drinks, including one glass of wine.

After travelling all day with small children, all our group of 6 wanted was to eat and get home to bed.

Early 6pm booking .. we arrived on time and had drinks and placed order within 10 minutes. After total inattention, over 50 minutes later, we enquired when food would be arriving .. only to be told 'another 15 minutes'.

We asked for the manager .. to be quite rudely told 'there is none .. we all work at same level'.

Obviously this business was giving preference to takeaways .. not serving restaurant patrons.

BE WARNED .. don't expect service or even politeness at this restaurant .. we weren't the only people to leave because of the long delay and discourtesy ..

Can't rate the food .. we walked out disgusted ..

By contrast, we enjoyed a lovely meal and excellent service from Vishnu at the Mercure...

Wish I could rate this higher but the front of house staff are not worth the visit...

The food is good, great even... We couldn't fault anything about the food.

The service is a disgrace! So super slow, they have no interest in being there or working. The girl with the dark almost black medium length hair couldn't care less about any customer let alone trying to crack a smile to welcome you, even serve you, just so rude, no people skills what so ever! The blonde one with the bun and tattoos she was the same, they have no interest in you as the customer, so uninterested in it all. Sad really because could be all round great place to eat.
