As well as 10 spectacular gallery spaces, MAMA also delivers 'art by accident', both inside and outside. Aimed at young people, these mini narratives and peepholes are specially curated little spaces waiting to be found.

Looking out past the gallery walls, MAMA connects with QEII Square and Albury's CBD through playful, dynamic, changing public art and ongoing place creation programs. People are excited about art even before they walk through...

A couple of mundane temporary exhibitions and some recent acquisitions but we were so disappointed not to see the amazing works they do have (and obviously lock away). MAMA should have the works by local artist Russel Drysdale, including works showing Albury Station, more major works by Tracy Moffat whose career virtually started here, paintings by Kandinsky, John Perceval, Tom Roberts, Margaret Olley, Indigenous artists, and I could go on. Not to mention their extensive photographic collection. To see what they have, you can get an idea from their book of collection highlights, “MAMA HERE, MAMA NOW”. A great space but MAMA’s amazing permanent holdings are missing in action. MAMA’s reply to my original post misses the point. This is MAMA ALBURY. They miss the opportunity to share major art links to Albury, and of course many of their visitors are not there to see rotating art works. They are in fact visiting Albury, like we were. They also will miss out on future significant donations when major works donated to them do not see the light...

A fascinating centre representing a vast array of art styles, culture, concerns and people. The staff were lovely, welcoming and informative, the installations were interactive, the building was fresh and seats are provided. Sculpture, film, 2D, and culinary were on display at the time of my visit. Ramps and lifts are available for accessibility and there's investigation activities for the older kids- great venue for arty teens and their families. The location surrounded by gardens, stores and restaurants is fabulous too! Undercover parking about a 2 minute walk away on Stanley Street. Wear comfy shoes as you'll be wandering from piece to piece in wonder and not notice how much walking and standing...
