Riva Del Sole — Restaurant in Bruges

A nice little cosy Italian restaurant that serves some of the best pizzas in Bruges. The smell of Parmesan cheese and tomato when you walk in is just wonderful. The Quattro Fromaggio pizza was out of this world. Delicious, fresh, and full of flavour. The service was good, not the best I have had in Bruges, but friendly and good sense of humour. Had an issue with the card punnet due to slow internet service, but luckily we had cash to settle the bill. The walls were a little grubby from splashes of sauce (see photo) but not anything to put you off the place or the tasty food. Came here on new years eve as it was the first place we could get a booking (which we regretted). Starters were decent. Parma ham with melon and tomato soup. The lasagna (recommended by the waitress) was actually very good. Other than that we ordered tagliatelle bolognese (the only positive from which was the perfectly cooked pasta), spaghetti aglio olio e pepperoncino (which was not good and strangely came with a lot of green pepper (not listed as an ingredient)) and a pizza with salami and chili (which also came with a lot of green peppers which were not listed on the menu, and was doughy and oily). Unsure where to go for my birthday meal at short notice without booking anywhere and decided to venture into town.... Stumbled across this little place on our way to where some of the more expensive restaurants were. And I was glad we did stop here. The staff were very quick to attend to us and we had a nice quiet table. I had the veal and the wife chose the steak, both of which were lovely.
