Update - January 28, 2025 After FIVE WEEKS of treating me and my daughter like criminals, TD returned the money that was stolen by their bank machine to my daughter's bank account!
TD hired a third party to "investigate" what my daughter and I have been telling them all along. The proof was visible all along on the cameras at the bank, but instead of thoroughly investigating the matter, they made us jump through hoops! I suspect they thought we would give up!!
It's unfortunate that the TD bank made us feel like criminals, when they are the ones being charged with money laundering!!
A simple apology or acknowledgement would have gone a long way in keeping us as customers!!!
Update - January 6, 2025
I received a call from the "Customer Care Manager" (Office of the President). I was initially pleased that TD was offering me assistance in this matter, however the entire conversation was a waste of time. This was an attempt to placate me, but it backfired!
They refused to assist me since the matter related to my daughter (hello, did you read the review??) I accepted that fact and suggested they contact my daughter, but they refused! So why the @#$#% did you even contact me????
January 4, 2025 BEWARE - DO NOT deposit cash into the bank machines! My daughter deposited her rent money into the TD banking machine in our neighbourhood and a week later it still has not shown up in her account!
She called the phone number on the banking machine when the funds did not show up in her account and an investigation was opened. We visited the branch in person and was told that the banking machine was operated by a third party and they had NO access to any of the transactions that occurred at the banking machine! We have to wait for the investigation to be completed!
This is incompetent, deceitful and wrong in so many ways: I had to borrow money so both me and my daughter could pay our respective rent! Why are the transactions that occur at the ATM at the local branch not available to that branch? -Why am I paying service fees for the bank's mistake? -Where is my daughter's money?
Now I know why people don't trust or use...
Read moreI would recommend caution when dealing with TD WebBroker! Five years ago, my wife and I had invested $720 in RBC shares through this online investment platform, a “blue chip” stock that we would leave alone, and indeed, the stock successfully yielded 30% interest over that time. I recently went on the WebBroker platform, expecting to see considerable earnings, but instead, I found a total of $13.65. It was not possible to see an online statement of any kind, in order to understand where funds had gone. We began to wonder if our computer had been hacked and we became victims of fraud. However, our visit to a TD branch and simultaneous connection to a WebBroker phone representative confirmed that we were actually victims of what I would call “institutional greed”. That is, we were subject to a quarterly $25 “holding fee”, amounting to $100 per year. It did not matter that there were zero online transactions over that time period. Further, TD Bank and WebBroker were under no obligation to inform us, whether by post or email, that our stocks were being liquidated and that regular maintenance fees were being imposed. (In fact, if we had not dealt with the matter now, we would be going into an account deficit, yikes!) Even though we were undoubtedly given the WebBroker rules and fine print many years ago, I explained that we were simple folk, on a pension, and that in my opinion, the fair thing for TD Bank to do under the circumstances was to refund our original $720 investment - and in exchange, we would forgive the lost earnings. They declined, and as we proceeded to close our accounts, they issued cheques for $13.65. We are wondering how best to spend...
