$700+ for a very bad experience—overpriced, underwhelming, and completely unsatisfying.
We spent over $730 for two people on a Valentine’s Day set menu including 2 starters, one main, and one dessert ($275 per person), expecting an good dining experience. The issue it’s that the quality of the food, service, and overall experience was completely inconsistent with the cost and, worst of all, as a customer, I was not even given the right to decide how much tip to leave, despite this being such a bad experience on Valentine’s Day. Here’s everything that went wrong:
Seafood platter (first starter): Since we both chose the same dish, the server said they would “combine” it into one platter. What arrived was 3 shrimp, 1 scallop, 2 mini oysters, and 4 coin-thin slices of tuna. For $275 per person, this portion was downright insulting. If this was the combined version, what would a single portion even look like? 1.5 shrimp and half a scallop? Completely unreasonable.
Tuna tartare (second starter): It was essentially a pile of tomatoes, with barely any tuna. Misleadingly named and poorly executed. This dish should’ve been called tomato tartare because the tuna was nonexistent.
Main course (lobster and steak): The lobster was mushy, clearly not fresh, and borderline inedible. The steak was tough, full of gristle. Both the lobster and steak were far below what you’d expect at this price point.
Wait times: Every single course took an excessively long time to arrive.
Bread and butter: Even the bread service was a failure. The butter was frozen and impossible to spread.
Hidden gratuity: The restaurant added an 18% service charge to the bill without notifying us, and the payment terminal still prompted for a tip. If we hadn’t checked the bill carefully, we would’ve double-tipped. Forced gratuity is unacceptable, especially when the service and food were this bad.
Overall: The problem isn’t the high price—it’s that the food, service, and overall experience didn’t justify it. Spending over $700 should feel like a treat, but instead, it felt like we were being taken advantage of. If you value the food quality and your dining experience, avoid this place. You...

It is my absolute pleasure to share my recent visit to Louix Louis, situated within the luxurious St. Regis Hotel in Toronto. From the moment I set foot in this culinary sanctuary, I was captivated by its majestic ambience and enchanting atmosphere.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the ebullient host, Jimmy, whose enthusiasm was positively contagious. Even though it was the end of his shift, Jimmy's warmth and genuine excitement to see me set the stage for a memorable evening. His attentive service and dedication to ensuring my comfort were nothing short of exemplary.
As I took my seat at the bar, I had the fortune of meeting Jean M., the amiable and charming bartender. Engaging in conversation with Jean was an absolute delight, as he regaled me with tales of the establishment's history and insider tidbits about the intricate concoctions he so expertly crafted. Read moreI hope your establishment reads every review as this one deserves a read. First of all Preshawn did a great job with our table he brought my mom a blanket since she was a little cold it was a kind gesture that we have only had matched by the service at Scaramouche. He probably knew the temperature would take a long time to change or that it's perhaps out of their control.
Food was good but not quite deserving of 5 stars for a few small reasons. Fillet Mignon was ordered medium rare but was only medium rare for the first quarter inch on top and bottom the center was basically raw and the steak was nearly cold when it hit the table. Did we give your team a chance to make it right, no we didn't. Truth is we simply didn't feel like drawing more attention to us... Aim I confident you would have handled it with professionalisn yes absolutely. But it shouldn't be that hard to get a steak right If I can do it so can your team.
Your "King Cake" is grand and fun but a little too comfortably close to being bland. The ganache was excellent however its cheer size creates a problem only so many bites will have ganache which balances the body of the cake which lacks that deep chocolate flavor that you will find in a properly decadent cake. I think you already know this and that's why you serve it with chocolate sauce but it doesn't provide the same mouth feel or flavor. The body of the cake is good but eerily close to tasting store bought out of a bag. I really need to say this with concern.... your ice cream was icy and watery it was BAD. All our food was good my Dad was in love with his burger we had two incredible cocktails my Seabass was 10/10. Regardless you guys were great but your cake is so close to being truly epic...I couldn't tell you what to do other than make the body a little more moist and a little less tasting of flour... Maybe we got an off batch...I suggest you sneak over to " The Village Grocer" at Kennedy and 16th in Markham and try their...
