A Pristine Escape in the Heart of Patagonia: My Rave Review for Pristine Patagonia Hotel
As a seasoned traveller, I can say with absolute certainty that finding the perfect base in Puerto Natales is no small feat. Enter Pristine Patagonia Hotel – an affordable hidden gem that effortlessly blends the wild soul of Patagonia with modern comforts, making it the ideal launchpad for your southern Chilean adventures. If you're planning a trip to this fjord-kissed town, book here now; you won't regret it.
From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was enveloped in an atmosphere that's equal parts rustic charm and refined elegance. The design pays homage to Patagonia's heritage – think exposed wooden beams, local wool textiles, and subtle nods to the region's sheep-farming history – all while feeling fresh and contemporary. Our room (a cozy double with private bath) was spotless, with plush beds that practically begged for post-hike recovery, fluffy linens, and thoughtful touches like soundproofing to drown out the occasional Patagonian gust. The free WiFi was lightning-fast, a godsend for uploading those glacier selfies, and the hairdryer and toiletries were hotel-grade, not the skimpy travel versions you dread.
But the real magic? The location. Perched just a stone's throw from the Última Esperanza Fjord and the iconic waterfront, it's a 4-minute stroll to the Municipal History Museum and under 10 minutes to the bustling Plaza de Armas. We wandered to the Old Pier for sunset views over the water, spotting seals and seabirds without breaking a sweat. It's also prime for gearing up – shops for trekking essentials and eateries like Afrigonia (for fusion Patagonian fare) or Chocolatería Patagonia Dulce (chocolate heaven) are all within easy reach. And for those Torres del Paine day trips? The hotel's tour desk hooked us up with seamless transfers, turning logistics into a breeze.
Breakfast deserves its own paragraph. A daily buffet of fresh fruits, local cheeses, artisanal breads, and strong Chilean coffee – all served in a sunlit common area with fjord vistas that make you forget you're indoors. It's not just fuel; it's a gentle nudge to embrace the day's wild possibilities. The shared kitchen was spotless for quick snacks, and the staff? Warm, multilingual pros who felt like old friends by day two. They shared insider tips on hidden viewpoints and even arranged a laundry service that saved our muddy boots.
In a town full of options, Pristine Patagonia stands out for its value – affordable rates without skimping on quality – and that elusive sense of "home away from home" in one of the world's most dramatic landscapes. We left refreshed, recharged, and already plotting our return. 5/5 stars; this isn't just a hotel, it's the start of a love affair with Patagonia. Highly recommended for solo explorers, couples, or anyone chasing that...
Read moreWe had a great experience at this hotel and want to provide some additional information after reading the negative review, because the people at this newer hotel are simply fantastic and don’t deserve a two star review. In Chile, you have to pay VAT, a tax for tourists unless you’re paying in USD cash. This is not uncommon whatsoever—we paid it everywhere we went. In terms of screens, we have spent 6 weeks in various places in Chile, and there are no window screens (as Americans expect) anywhere—this is also common if you travel often to other parts of the world. The hotel does have a pull down screen that easily would’ve kept out the bugs. They also have blackout curtains that could’ve been used to keep the rooms cool. The rooms were clean, the beds were cozy, the breakfast was great, the laundry and bag storage were super affordable—they even did the laundry in 4 hours and returned it to us the night before we started our trek. The front desk staff were so great, they helped us arrange transportation various places, they provided helpful recommendations, and they truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything needed for our trek. The hotel is situated in a central part of town with a cute bakery/coffee shop, and several restaurants nearby. If we ever return to PNT, we’ll be...
Read moreThe service from reception was great. The rooms we had, had several weird issues. Small things were broken like towel handles, toilet seat, door towel hanger, water would shoot out splashing everything from the sink. Small fixes that were never done. I encourage the owner to fix these as they add up to being an inconvenience and annoyance. There were also some bugs like spiders on the ceiling or dead flies on the rollup blinds.
The car that was rented to me was really bad as well. It was a 2010 vehicle that was near falling apart. The hood of the car did not latch all the way, so on the road, it would shake like it was about to pop open any minute and the alignment of the wheels was terrible. The dash had multiple lights on, including the check engine light. Don't rent this car out to people pls! Don't even mention that you can rent a car if it is in this condition. I felt absolutely ripped off. The hotel forced you to pay for the gas which is fine but I was given the car with an empty tank... I had to fill it to full and ended up giving them half the tank I didn't use. To top it all off they made me pay to keep my luggage there overnight. Overall the hotel needs investment. Staff is the only reason I didn't...
