We wanted a place to stay after spending the day touring Valparaiso and the coast. I braced myself for the expense. To my surprise, our stay at the Hotel Rondo was $53.00 US for 3 people (two beds)- least expensive of our entire trip. I admit this colors my review and I'm not sure if we got a special deal. This included the normal hotel breakfast, and of course free WIFI. The reviewer who suggested it was more like a grandma's house was right on. There are no amenities here to speak of, but I really appreciated the free water cooler downstairs! This was the only hotel with Christmas decorations already out, so my wife was thrilled. I presume all the rooms are different. Our bathroom was actually on the large size and even had a bidet! Staff were very helpful about helping us find a car rental company. As for location, it is about a block from the casino but we didn't notice any street noise. Please note there is no elevator, nor did my grandma have one. Nor did she tote my luggage. Also, I don't remember speaking English with them, so they may have...
Read moreWe had a four night stay in this hotel and couldn't wait to get out. It was like stepping back in time. Sometimes that can be great - this was just horrible. There was no elevator, the rooms were cold, the bed was lumpy covered in hundreds of blankets and a top cover of some faded gold colour with stitching coming apart. The internet was impossible, fairly non existent unless you could get hold of the dongle which was difficult to say the least. The bathroom was so cold the condensation ran down the walls and those once white now grey towels were off putting. The hotel is close to the Casino and many restaurants which was lucky because the same, same, breakfast every day meant we brought our own food in to make up the variety. The staff are kind enough but totally under the direction of the owner who also lives in the hotel. These ladies had no ability to lug our cases upstairs we had to do it ourselves. This hotel is in dire need of having money - lots of money - spent on it to update it. Until then, we would...
Read moreThis hotel is centrally located and a block away from the Casino and Restaurants. Like mentioned before by previous reviewer, there is no elevator, but the hotel staff helped us with the luggage and stored some it in the first floor. The owner was in the premise as well as their small guard dog called Lucas, and staff were happy to help us with advice on moving around Vina and Valparaiso. If traveling by Metro, get off at the Miramar station. No air conditioning, but it was winter. I left the window open, but there was a little of traffic noise. Breakfast was a small continental one, but it was plenty to start your morning. The price...
