We were unfortunately disappointed with our stay at Chira Glamping. While it was advertised as a “glamping” experience, it felt more like staying in a boutique hotel with dome-shaped villas rather than being immersed in nature. The location is surrounded by other hotels and businesses, so it lacks the peaceful seclusion we were expecting.||The domes themselves are unique and visually interesting, but the overall experience didn’t live up to the promise. Our stay was disrupted by loud music from a party at a nearby hotel, constant dog barking, and frequent motorcycle traffic—definitely not the tranquil environment we had in mind.||Service also fell short. The concierge who checked us in was not particularly welcoming or informative. We weren't shown the room features (like the safe, which we only discovered under the bathroom sink on our last day), and she gave us the wrong time for a night tour we had scheduled through them.||The included breakfast was mediocre and the coffee was disappointing. On the plus side, the San Lucas Treetop Dining Experience was excellent—but you can book that without staying at Chira, and based on our experience, I’d recommend doing just that.||One final letdown: the outdoor shower, which started out beautifully, lost hot water within a few minutes. While staff responded quickly to reset the heater, we were told it would take 30 minutes to recover—not ideal when you’re mid-shower.||In summary, while Chira Glamping is a visually interesting property with potential, the noise, lackluster service, and missed expectations made it a stay we...
Read moreIt would be fair to say that this was not quite what we expected. Possibly we should have looked at the photographs more intensely but we were expecting the pods to be in a cloud forest, some distance away from civilisation with a good opportunity to star gaze from our balcony. The pods are lovely but they are pretty close together, we could hear our neighbours and see bright fairy lights and what sounded like a wedding or disco very close to our balcony. We heard a lot of banging after we had gone to bed and complained to the front desk but were told it was just a delivery and would soon be over. This was at 9.00pm. I asked if we needed to check in online for our flight to Drake Bay and was told they didn't know. I had thought I was booking a night tour of the Monteverde reserve but was told one could only have a night tour in the transition forest. As we were booking from the UK I was not sure what this meant. We found out that we were on a tour in a very small forest with a lot of other tours all walking around together. So many flashlights - not many animals. We spent a lot of time looking at spiders in webs. The guide was at least half an hour late and when we asked the concierge to investigate he didn't seem to have any idea. In fact he told us that no pick up had been booked. Beautiful sunsets. Would I stay here again. I do not think so. It was the most expensive experience...
Read moreOne of the highlights of our trip even though the weather was as to be expected during rainy season. The tents are large and well equipped with excellent comfy beds and a large kitchen, bathroom with two rain showers and separate toilet in the adjacent building behind the tent. First night we used the gas BBQ provided and had dinner in the room which was a nice change. Also the open air (but sheltered) jacuzzis was a great feature. Breakfast featured a varied selection of plates from French toast and pancakes to omelettes and local options, rounded off by a nice buffet with cakes, croissant, toast and cheeses, ham. At every single interaction the staff was highly professional and personable, taking great care of their guests. One night when it had rained heavily in the afternoon they even cleaned the patio while we were at dinner … excellent. We stayed for two nights in a family tent which even featured climbing wall, some ropes and a slide as well as games, kids cutlery - not quite needed by us anymore but ten years ago we would have loved it when the kids were younger. Thank you for this great experience, Chira...
