We have just returned home from our trip staying at Hotel Uvala. We had a great stay, and from the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly members of staff who were very welcoming and helpful. Two of the three rooms that we had booked were ready straight away, even though we had arrived a few hours before our due time, the main man on reception, (sorry can’t remember his name) was great and made a call and within ten minutes the third room was ready. He was very accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms were spotlessly clean with plenty of space, and a comfortable bed. We had a wonderful view from the balcony over the bay which was stunning. The house keeping team were ready each day to replace the towels and clean our rooms, they provided a superb service, thank you to the ladies that looked after our rooms. The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful too, and were on hand if needed. Jayson was a very friendly member of the team who looked after us very well, and always had a smile. The free fruit in the afternoons was a pleasant surprise, and enjoyed by all while sat relaxing around the pool. The outdoor pool was very a very nice spot to cool down, plus an advantage of having the great view while having a swim, the indoor pool was like a warm bath, and also very inviting. Not a great amount of space around the pool, but we never struggled to get a lounger to soak up the sun.|The location of Hotel Uvala is very good and only a short walk down the hill to the beach, with plenty of choice for places to eat and drink, and also a local supermarket which was reasonably priced. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel, which takes you to Dubrovnik old town( no 4 bus) which is also worth a visit. |We have really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Uvala, and if we return to Dubrovnik in the future would certainly consider staying here again. Must mention Ma Belle cafe bar, great place for drinks and really cheap, and Scala restaurant, fantastic food and friendly service. Also Cave Bar More is a quirky place and worth a visit, which is on the other side of the bay...
Read moreWe stay at the uvala hotel, the staff were so welcoming. Velimir who took care of the dinning room and staff, he was always so welcoming, so helpful and lucija was always smiling and so helpful too. The meals were lovely really enjoyed the soups, so many chooses . We booked a room with a Seaview and balcony, it was lovely and the air conditioning was great, the rooms were cleaned every day and they were spotless. Have to get up early to get a sunbed, sun only on front and side but the pebble beach is just over the road and down some steps, would buy some beach shoes for getting in and out of the pebble sea. No sun beds in may but can buy a foam fold out beach pad 16 euros at the supermarket at the bottom, beach shoes 12 euros. Can drink tap water, also a small shop near hotel litres of water 6 euros. Have a walk down onto the promenade to the cave walk inside and take a look. There is a lovely snack place down at bottom to the right side for a wrap burger and more, we found this the cheapest option. Boat trips range from 15 to 60 euros. The trip over the border to Bosnia and the water falls on a couch was 41euros 11to12 hour trip. Bosnia was beautiful worth a couple of hours visit, the waterfalls were spectacular but don't take swim wear bedtime you get down you have to come back up, would be hard for anyone with poor mobility. There is a small train half way up for 1euro to take you back up to top after you have gotten up a lot of steps. Over all Croatia is well worth a visit but there are a lot of steps, seen one sandy beach all others pebbles and it it...
Read moreHotel Uvala should currently be avoided due to the building of a new hotel directly next door. The building work goes on 7 days per week through the summer with no hoarding up. You can see and hear the builders and the works, the lack of health and safety measures is shocking. The crane swings over the pool area moving materials during the day. Some timber fell from the site onto the street below. I was woken by the noise twice before 8am. We did speak to the hotel manager about this after a few days as it was not acknowledged at time of booking or on arrival. Some warning would have been appreciated. He did offer us a free lunch and a glass of wine. Whilst appreciated, the gesture does not stop our time at the hotel being spoiled. We did explain that we weren’t after ‘freebies,’ we just wish we had known. |Hotel Uvala has a nice spa and wellness area. I would say the pool area and terrace are nice but currently they are not due to the intrusive, noisy and ugly works. Breakfast is good, staff are all pleasant. Our bathroom was functional but dated- climbing into a deep bath and closing the glass sliding doors to shower, I am glad we are still mobile!|I felt as an area, Lapad was expensive. There are some old, dated areas such as the lido, building works happening and the prices for food and drink did not feel justified. If you take the time to wander and explore, you can find some better places to eat and some pretty plateaus to sunbathe on and swim in the beautifully clear water. We have visited Croatia many times and seen much...
