We booked this place purely because of the locations, and the room itself looks nothing like the photos shown. First of all we wanted to change our stay to 1 night having spoken to the landlord he said it was possible, but i have to amend it from my side spoke to booking.com they told me it was not possible as it was none-refunding therefore we could not amend the booking unless we cancel the whole thing. Anyways we kept the 2 nights booking but the room was so horrible that we only stayed for 1 night. First of all it was bit tricky to find as it was inside an alleyway next to a restaurant, when we arrived it was just a dark stairway up like in someones apartment, there was no reception nothing, the stairway was so old and shabby with no lights, we had to carry our suitcase all the way up to the top floor where our room was. The room that was given was a 3 bed studio even tho we only booked for twin bed, the kitchen was equipped with mugs/plates etc with a big fridge, the bathroom was so small with no soap/shampoo, even the bed were uncomfortable, if you open the windows loads of mosquitos get in, good job there is an ac. Since we had an early flight we just wanted to get out of there asap. For the price we paid we could have stayed in somewhere much nicer. The only good thing is the location, but then again you are near the main street with restaurants/bars, good luck having a good...
Read moreJust returned from a fab 4 night stay in the top floor apartment at Top Centar. The apartment was exactly as described. A great size for 2. Good wifi, good sized shower, spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed & pillows!! These are old buildings and so if on the top floor, yes there are a number of stairs and yes there may be a little noise if your neighbour is loud (which can happen anywhere), but considering the fabulous location it is very peaceful of a night and we had no trouble sleeping whatsoever, You are within the walls of the Palace and so central to lots of shops, cafes, bars etc., and less than a minutes walk to the Riva. Our hosts were lovely and only a phone call away. Nothing was too much trouble including taking us back to the airport. Most properties are difficult to find in this area but it just takes asking for a little help from a shop owner to put you on the right track as everyone is super friendly. This is our second visit to Split and will look forward to returning. We would definitely stay in the same apartment again. Thank you for a lovely...
Read moreLocation, as others have mentioned, is superb. The unit is an apartment split into three (?) rooms connected by a hallway.
I was in the largest of the rooms, the triple.
Shower has excellent pressure and hot water. Bed is soft, although the frame was a bit squeaky. Mini-fridge is provided in the room, along with a 32" TV.
Yes, there is noise from the city, but as you are in the middle of old town Split that is to be expected. Bring earplugs if you are very sensitive to outside noise when sleeping.
As other reviewers have stated, it's a bit tough to find the place. The best way to do so is look for the entrance walkway to MAKARUN restaurant. Go to the end of the street level hallway, turn right before the restaurant entrance, and there are two staircases. Go up the one on the right, two flights of stairs, and you'll be at the doorway to the units.
Management (the owner Luka's father) kindly provided an early check in for me at 10:00 am after an early morning ferry ride from Vis.
Overall, a very decent spot to spend a night or two...
