I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Kimpton Las Mercedes in Santo Domingo with a group of 18 travelers from New York, and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional, largely due to the incredible management team and the hotel’s stunning amenities.

Pre-Arrival & Customer Service: Communication with the management team leading up to our stay was seamless. They were proactive, responsive, and genuinely committed to ensuring our group had a fantastic experience. When a concern arose a couple of weeks before our trip, it was met with empathy and understanding, and the team swiftly provided a solution. Their willingness to listen and accommodate truly set the tone for an outstanding stay.

The Hotel & Amenities: The property itself is breathtaking. From the beautifully designed spaces to the comfortable, well-appointed rooms, everything exudes elegance. The pool area is gorgeous, the gym is impressively equipped, and the bars offer a fantastic ambiance that perfectly complements the overall experience.

Service Experience: Throughout the stay, the service was exceptional—attentive, intuitive, and often anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. However, the poolside food and beverage service was the one area that fell noticeably short. Our group waited nearly two hours for orders, despite multiple follow-ups, and the staff seemed disorganized and lacking in attentiveness. This is an area that would greatly benefit from improved training and oversight to ensure a level of service that aligns with the rest of the hotel’s high standards. With more structure and attentiveness from the pool staff, the overall experience at The Kimpton Las Mercedes would be truly flawless.

Final Thoughts: Despite the minor hiccup, The Kimpton Las Mercedes is easily the best hotel in the Zona Colonial. The combination of luxury, hospitality, and attention to detail makes it a standout choice for any traveler. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning...

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The staff greeted us with refreshing non-alcoholic cocktails and cool scented towels — such a thoughtful touch after traveling. Check-in was smooth and quick, and we were instantly impressed by how modern and beautiful the hotel is. I’ve honestly never seen so much technology in a hotel before!

The entire property is spotless, and the staff is beyond friendly and attentive. They always went out of their way to make our stay stress-free. We even had a flat tire during our trip, and the team helped us find someone right away to get it fixed. That level of service is rare and so appreciated!

The hotel also offers valet parking, which made everything more convenient. One of my favorite parts was the daily events — every afternoon from 5–6 PM, they host tastings of rum or wine. On Thursdays, they have a BBQ menu (parrilladas) with delicious food and great drink specials at the bar.

The pool area is stunning — peaceful, with an amazing view that makes it the perfect spot to relax during the day or at night.
