Santoña Gastro Bar Colonial — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

Our experience here was a bit disappointing, since it took forever (almost 2 hours from the ordering) to prepare one of the main courses (there were 5 of us). The other dishes came also quite slowly even though the restaurant was quite empty. The service wasn't great either, mainly because our waitress didn't speak any english and somehow it was also quite impossible to communicate other ways with her. There were also english speaking personnel, so didn't really understand why they put a person who don't speak any english to serve clients who doesn't speak spanish.

Foodwise some of the dishes were great (5 stars) but the dishes with salmon were quite basic, those were okay but nothing special.

All in all not a great experience for us, but some of the dishes were still very good!

This is probably the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The food was totally disgusting and incredibly slow to arrive as well. I went early (about 6pm) and the only other people were a couple. The starter took 30 minutes to arrive and the main course another 45 mins. The starter was basically inedible, and when the main course did arrive, the fish was almost completely raw . Top level service by Oscar. Best service I had on the whole island. He may as well have been trained by Mr Carson on Downton Abbey. He was perfectly attentive without intruding. Served in a lovely upscale style. The food was great I recommend the charcuterie and yuka with the fried egg and creme sauce.
