I visited on my 21st Birthday, immediately after dropping into conversation with our waiter, who was beyond excellent, gave us two glasses of champagne complimentary for the occasion. We were made to feel very comfortable and happy the second we arrived. The restaurant is quaint, hidden away but still busy and has amazing atmosphere, outside and inside seating both. My girlfriend and I had escargot, foie gras, 24hr lamb & dauphinoise, steak frites and ended with creme brûlée and a cheese plate, which was served with a candle for my birthday.
The food was the best I have probably ever had in my life, the flavours were incredible, authentic, rustic and just everything you could possibly ask for from a restaurant anywhere ever. The lamb was the highlight dish for me and I was suggested this by the waiter, but all of the food on other tables looked excellent.
This atmosphere was great, busy and vibrant, I think this place already has an overwhelmingly positive reputation and for good reason.
I can not put into words how good this place is, but if any of the staff do come to read this review, I would like to personally thank you once again for the meal, service and making my Birthday what it was. I will treasure it for my life, and thanks to you It was possibly one of the best days of my life.
Thank you again Lou Cantou staff, à...
Read moreUnfortunately, I can’t recommend this restaurant. I’m surprised at the amount of high ratings this place receives. I’m guessing it may be a good “budget” option for those who are seeking it, as this restaurant offers 3 course meal (starter + main + dessert) for under 30 euros which for Paris standards, is cheap.
Although that has a huge impact on the quality of the dishes. If has the French onion soup, which unfortunately was horrible. The broth was cloudy, lacked taste and salt. The cheese was super cheap and tasted like… nothing.
Next, I’ve had the beef cutler in pepper sauce, and boy oh boy was this dish terrible. The meat was very chewy like gummy bears, it had a lot of veins, lots of fat parts, very unpleasant not only when chewing but hard to even cut through with a knife. Calling that a pepper sauce is also a big mistake. It has no pepper flavor whatsoever, only a couple of peppercorns thrown into it, the sauce was just a thickened sauce from the meat itself. And I’ve received cold friend so that’s that. The salad was pure simple, some vinegret on top. Absolutely no no, we wanted a dessert but opted out of it because our taste buds were already ruined.
Very disappointed considering the amount of positive reviews. Much better...
Read moreI visited this restaurant yesterday and unfortunately had a disappointing experience right at the start. When I arrived, I asked for a table and was shown to one that was literally placed right next to another couple, almost glued to theirs. It would have been uncomfortable not only for me but also for them, especially considering that there were many other free tables available.
When I politely mentioned to the waiter that I did not wish to sit there, his only response was, “Okay, have a great day.” There was no attempt to explain whether the other tables were reserved, nor was there any effort to find a better solution. His tone came across as dismissive and unnecessarily rude.
In a profession that is centered around hospitality, I believe patience, kindness, and clear communication are essential. Customers cannot be expected to guess the reasoning behind seating arrangements, a simple explanation or alternative option would have gone a long way in making me feel welcomed.
I truly hope the management considers this feedback, as the restaurant itself seems to have potential, but the first interaction with staff sets the tone for the entire...
