The rating would have been better if the hotel did not show a greedy approach and still failed to deliver what was promised. The hotel is very tiny, at least not the size and worldwide standard for Inter-Continental Hotels. Unless you are lucky or rich enough to secure a suite etc. standard room is real small. No room for table or chair. Hotel Staff was very nice and other than forcing us to pay for an additional room because their so called security does not allow more than 3 persons in one room, even though we were traveling with two kids age 10 and 11 and a NON SMOKING room was reserved with two queen beds. The worse part was when after paying for 2nd room, we were forced to spend the night in smoking rooms because they thought we will not be “happy” in rooms apart from each other. I have been a member of IGH for a long time and enjoyed whenever and everywhere I stayed in any of the hotels offered by the program. I have had a very pleasant experience elsewhere whenever I stayed at Inter-Continental Hotels. The family and I (2 kids age 10/11) never had any issue sharing same room with two beds and that’s how we were booked for our anniversary free night for this stay in Paris. After struggling and dragging luggage to the hotel which is nowhere close to Metro, as mentioned, the hotel management refused to have two kids sharing the same room with parents, although the booked room was with two queen beds. They stated that Inter Continental policy clearly states that no more than 3 persons in one room. The room was booked by IGH staff and I was very clear that I have 2 kids traveling with me. The booking agent offered a room with two queen/full beds which would have been more than enough for us considering only a stay for one night. However, the hotel management wouldn’t budge and I was forced to pay a substantial amount for another room. If the whole ordeal would have been over at that time I would have not been too upset. Anyways, we were advised that rooms are not ready since the check in should be 3 PM. We were there around 2:30 PM. We were offered a temporary room to wait until our rooms were ready. After waiting for an hour, we were told that rooms wouldn’t be ready until after 4:30 PM so if we prefer we can go sightseeing and upon return rooms will be ready. Since the whole idea of traveling to Paris was sightseeing, we left the luggage and returned around 10 PM after spending the rest of the day outside. Now, the real nightmare started. We entered the room and smelled smoke all over. I was very clear that we must have non-smoking rooms. When contacted the front desk, I was advised that there are no more Non-Smoking rooms available and we can bring this matter to the manager’s attention tomorrow morning. We were there for one night and sleeping in smoking room was an horrible experience. Kids were coughing all night and during rest of their Spring Break. The hotel offer of free breakfast did not help to alleviate the horrible night we spent. So much for the free anniversary night which costed me additional triple the charge which I would have paid for such place and restless night. The entire family was crumbled in one room along with 1 year little infant because kids refused to even enter other smelly room. The most pathetic response I ever received was when I complained this to the manager on duty next morning. The manager, although very professional and nice, entire staff was nice) advised me that the reason he put us on SMOKING room because we wanted to have two rooms adjacent to each other and he did not have that in NON-Smoking floor. He did not have an answer when I asked as to why this was not disclosed so I could have made an informed decision if I would have known that rooms availability is in smoking floor. I honestly would have walked away if I have had a slightest idea what hotel management was up to. They were so concerned about hotel security and rules not to exceed 3 guests per room. Yet, they deliberately did not disclose the type of room we will have upon return from our day trip. It shows that they were more concerned to make extra money rather than being honest...
Read moreNothing about my experience even remotely resembled that of a 5 star experience, it barely even reached a 3. The room service wasn’t working for the entire week we were there. The rooms were extremely small and we had to constantly shuffle everything around multiple times during the day to make the size work. We’d mentioned when we booked on Expedia that we want one extra bed and that one of us was on a wheelchair and no preparations were made for that, they put us in a normal room with a bathroom so small we could barely fit the wheelchair inside it. They then move us to their only accessible room in the hotel the next day and while the bathroom was larger and more accessible I have never in my life been put in such a degrading room for such an enormous price. The room which was on the ground floor could only be reached by 2 ways, the way the hotel staff told us to was to take was to take an elevator up to the first floor then walk to the service elevator (which smelled horrible) on the other side of the floor and then take it back down to the ground floor where we’d be next to a kitchen with a bunch of chairs and random items in the hallway blocking our path to our tiny room, and the quick way was through a restaurant with a bunch of tables with no clear path through, this would less than a minute but you’d get the dirtiest looks from all the restaurant staff and they’d ask you questions and pester you every time you went in and out of the room, it was like I was sharing every aspect of my room with a restaurant. Not only that, but the windows in the room open out onto a table in the restaurant making it functionally useless unless you want to have people looking into your room when you just want a breeze to flow through. And not only that, being right on the restaurant meant that we were essentially sitting in the middle of all that noise all day long, early in the morning the were shuffling things around and making noise setting things up or hammering at things and at night there were people drinking eating and making noise until past 2am, and the curtains in our room didn’t even cover the side windows so the room was constantly exposed to the lights of the restaurant which were constantly lighting up the 3rd bed. The staff were really nice, but this isn’t a serious hotel if this is how they’ve designed their accessible room, don’t charge me 5 star prices and offer me an experience lacking the basic luxuries one would expect of a 2 or 3 star hotel. Why are they punishing people with disabilities and trying to make a quick buck off them, I shouldn’t have to beg for the basics of a room like opening a window or having an accessible entrance to a room. In the end they ended up changing our rooms 3 times over 6 nights which was an extreme inconvenience for us but sweet of the staff as they were trying to find us a solution but still we were forced to keep moving around and fully pack our bags every other day. The last room we were in was significantly better than all the previous ones but it was far too little too late and even then it was still not at the level one would expect from the intercontinental or at the price we paid, because if they’re not charging me these exorbitant prices for comfort and peace of mind then what am I even paying for? Because the rooms aren’t big and none of the basic services of a hotel were even functioning, only redeeming quality of the hotel is the...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews, but feel it's necessary here. I'll not return to this hotel and hope that Management will pay attention as this is a great location with much promise. First, the hotel itself is small and intimate, full of opportunity for a memorable and unique experience, but organization of services is exceptionally poor and not in even a 4-star class. The concierge was not able to arrange basic services. There was a snafu in arranging my ride from the airport that set the stage. I had requested a car prior to my departure for paris and no one was there when I arrived. There's a simple car request via the online app that would lead one to believe that this is a straight-forward process. Apparently a confirmation email had been sent to me while I was in the air and when the concierge didn't hear back, he didn't send a car. Seriously, with all of the flight information available, he should have figured this out and covered the possibility anyway. Trying to make train tickets, the concierge wasn't able to help, nor did he know at the first how the reservation process worked. It was a lot of confusion and wound up having to resolve on my own. The Breakfast buffet is nothing special and the service was VERY poor. I was left at a table with no coffee and no silverware for over 20 minutes and watched as the couple at the table across from me tried desperately to get someones attention for more coffee only to be told by the server whose attention they were finally able to catch that he didn't service their table...really!? The teapot in my room had mold in it, my coffee service was refreshed once in four days even though the coffee cream ran out on the first day. One of the towels actually had a stain on it when I arrived and I had to request toilet paper at one point because the backup roll had been overlooked. I'm a platinum ambassador and didn't get a room upgrade, which while not guaranteed, was surprising given that they weren't full when I was there. I didn't even get a view room within the room category that I had requested. If your an Ambassador member, don't expect anything special here. I didn't care for the food very much, but this was my own personal taste. The flavors were way over the top and I would up just reverting to the simple soup/pasta menu as I couldn't stand the over salted entrees and super sweet dessert. The individuals providing service at the hotel were very amiable and there was a unique rapport due to the size of the hotel, but the management should be reconsidered. This hotel will never compete among the 5-star tier properties in...
