I suffered from food poisoning in Strasbourg, and the hotel showed no understanding or compassion. Instead, the staff, particularly the "primary receptionist" Samia, was excessively strict and unreasonable, despite being fully aware of my illness and the extent of it.
After a difficult first night, I asked the reception to cancel my breakfast for the following day (which I had added to my reservation after check-in). The receptionist told me to "check back later." Unfortunately, due to my illness, I fell asleep and couldn't follow up.
The next morning, before checkout, I called reception to inform them that I was still unwell and would need extra time to vacate the room. I was told, "That's okay." However, at 12:40, while I was struggling to pack due to exhaustion and a burn from the kettle provided by the hotel, two receptionists came to my room to inform me that Samia had decided to charge a €30 late checkout fee, without exception.
Upon explaining my situation, one of the receptionists helped me with my luggage and assured me he would discuss it with Samia. However, when I went downstairs, Samia refused to offer any flexibility or assistance. She treated the situation like a bargaining session, Bundling together my request to cancel breakfast with the late checkout fee, two entirely separate issues. It felt like I was dealing with a professional haggler who played dirty.
She also introduced a new rule that late checkout was only allowed for "10 to 20 minutes," a detail that had never been mentioned before. Eventually, she "generously" waived the late checkout fee but refused to refund the breakfast, as if it was a negotiation, and maintaining a harsh and dismissive attitude: "That's it. End of discussion."
The lack of professionalism, empathy, and even basic assistance (like providing first aid for my burn) left me with an extremely negative impression of this hotel, mainly...
Read moreAs a regular Accor member who often stays at their hotels for both business and personal travel, this was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I stayed at Ibis Gare Centrale Strasbourg during a business trip, and I’m honestly glad it wasn’t a personal trip—I would never bring my family here.
The room was in unacceptable condition: the pillow cover was visibly dirty, and the shower was not cleaned properly, with grime clearly visible. There were no glasses or bottled water provided in the room, which is a basic necessity. I ended up having to buy a small bottle of water from the hotel for 4 euros, which was frustrating and unreasonable.
The air conditioning unit was extremely old and barely worked, making the room stuffy and uncomfortable. On top of that, the soundproofing was almost nonexistent—I could hear every train announcement and noise from Strasbourg Gare throughout the night. It was difficult to get any rest.
What added to the poor experience was the unwelcoming behavior of the front desk staff. The lady at the reception was cold and unhelpful, showed no hospitality, and even made a mistake with the country name when writing down my details for the invoice. When I asked about the complimentary welcome drink that Accor members are entitled to, she told me she’d have to ask her manager—this was late at night, and nothing came of it.
This hotel does not reflect the usual Accor standards I’m used to. I expected much more, especially as a loyal member. Thankfully, it was just a business trip and only I had to deal with it. But this experience was enough to say: never again at this hotel.

Read moreWe loved the location being right outside the main train station, we travelled by train from Basel with suitcases, so it was easy to get to the hotel, easy and flat 5 min walk with no noise either. The hotel was also an easy walk into the centre of Strasbourg, which is a small town itself. I would recommend a 2 night stay, you can see most things within this time and any longer you may get bored. ||Hotel staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We booked a standard room which was very small and compact, however modern and clean. The toilet flush button broke within hours of checking into the room and the water kept running, we called reception straight away and they sent someone up to try and fix it. They couldn’t fix it so room moved us to a slightly larger room, which was appreciated. The corridors could be better lit and more ambience, it was slightly scary getting out of the lift and only light sensors to light up the corridors. Overall a pleasant...
