My recent stay at the Hotel Victoria in Strasbourg was excellent, offering the perfect blend of convenience and comfort. Its location is a major highlight, just a four-minute walk from the central train station and conveniently close to the beautiful old city center. Nestled next to a quiet pedestrian walkway, the hotel provides a peaceful retreat while being centrally located in the heart of the action. From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff made me feel welcome. Attached to the hotel is a nice cafe, which was a great spot to grab a coffee before heading out to explore the city. My room, while small, was exactly what I needed. It was well-equipped with all the essentials and felt perfectly suited for my solo trip. The bathroom was a major plus; the mirror has its own light, which was fantastic for shaving, and the sink area provided ample space for my toiletries. The shower pressure was good, and the hot and cold water was reliable. A thoughtful touch that shows the hotel's attention to detail was the inclusion of earplugs. While I didn't need them during my stay, it was a nice gesture for light sleepers. The Wi-Fi was also impressively fast, with a speed test showing 74.5/42.4, which made it easy to stay connected. My only minor issue was with the electric outlets; my power strip didn't fit, which made charging my electronics a little inconvenient. However, the room did have USB plugs. Overall, the Hotel Victoria is a good choice for anyone...
Read moreThis is a generous review. The location is just a few minutes walk from the train station. There is an elevator, but still have steps you must carry you luggage over. The staff is OK - the women were more friendly than the men. One man at the front desk doesn't have much patience, it seems. I asked him for a blue room because of the psychology of color. I want a cool, relaxing room, not vivid yellow (which is what i got!) or lime green or vivid orange. I get that it's trendy and funky, but I don't like these jarring colors. I have no idea why he would not accommodate my request! There were so many keys on the wall! Also, it's surprising that the interior decorator isn't up to speed on the soothing color palettes. Anyway, the room is very small, as expected. The shower is a micro size and only for rather small people. The AC worked but doesn't have very many temperature options. For example, you cannot set it at 21 Celsius. It only goes up to 20. The bed was comfortable. The towels and linens were nice. There is no mini fridge, which would have been convenient. They only let you store your luggage for an hour before they charge you. I have not heard of a hotel doing this, especially since it's not in a secure room. The luggage is just placed by the front desk. It's in good repair and I would still suggest it, but the attitude could be improved to make guests feel more welcome and...
Read moreLoved what I saw and what I read about this hotel on booking dot com, but the reality was far less than what was advertised. This hotel is but a stone’s throw from the train station and it is not normally accessible by a motor vehicle, and the closest parking is a 10min walk away, if not more. Wish I would have known that before going there with a 9-pax van and a bunch of luggage. The rooms are small. Like, really small. The bathroom is 1/4 of the size of a broom closet and doesn’t dampen any noise at all, if you know what I mean. The windows and the doors let in a lot of sound and I was constantly being woke just by other people coming and going from their rooms, plus bar patrons on the street, into the early hours of the morning. The stairway is not recommended for any middle-aged or elderly person and the elevator only fits two people. The only silver lining was the breakfast that was good, but not great. But definitely better than the McDonald’s 30m down the walkway. Staff was considerate and polite, but you have to turn in your room key to them when you exit the building for anything and they kept giving us other peoples’ keys by mistake when we came back in. Raised a small security concern IMHO. Would not recommend unless proximity to the train station is your...
