TO KAFENEDAKI — Restaurant in Athens

My husband Yiorgos and I discovered this gem of a place back in 2021 on our annual Athens stay. We loved the quality of the food, with a variety of breakfast and lunch options, and amazing coffee. The location is GREAT! Tucked in a neighborhood but walking distance from Odeon ancient theatre. But I must say the best 5 star rating goes to George the owner, who is unbelievably friendly, has professional service, and is always with a smile. Barista seemed nice in the beginning. After we offered to pay by cash, he didn't like it and asked for cash instead. He also didn't like that we asked him for sugar sachet!! When we tried to sit at a particular spot in the patio (to avoid sun), he told the host to ask us to sit at a different spot instead. Host was insistent and wouldn't let us sit at that spot. Coffe and pie were fine, but the customer service is -10. We were seated at a sunny table and when nearby guests kindly offered their shaded spot as they left, we moved — but the waitress asked us to go back, saying those tables were only for people eating. Ironically, we were planning to eat. Only after I returned to the sunny table, visibly upset, did she offer to move us or let us stay briefly. During our whole visit, no one sat at the shaded table.
