Absolute amazing stay. We booked the Spilia Cave Suite for 5 nights and every aspect was wonderful. We were greeted by a courteous driver at the airport and upon arrival at the hotel, two members of staff were already waiting for us. Check-in was smooth and we received a call that our rooms was ready earlier than expected. The suite is very spacious and truly resembles a cave in the mountains, while still offering all features and amenities expected from a luxury boutique property. 2 large bedrooms with queen size beds, a large living room with a corner sofa and kitchenette and an even larger outdoor terrace with a private plunge pool. Everything was kept in good shape and spotless in terms of cleanliness. Breakfast was served daily in the suite at our preferred time and offered a good spread of high quality ingredients. Any additional requests were promptly met and remembered for the rest of the stay. After touring the island up and down, we found that this hotel has the perfect location. While being only few meters away from a number of eateries and shops, the rooms offered full privacy. Fira and Imerovigli are only short walks away, while other destinations of the island can be mostly reached within 20 minute drive. Personally, we didn't think there was the need to see the sunset from Oia as we found the sunset from our terrace just as beautiful. The best part of our stay was the personal touch that the owner, George, and his team offered. At every encounter, they made sure that we had everything we needed and all recommendations were spot on. Beyond that, they also helped us with restaurant bookings and car rental services, making it as easy as possible for us. Especially Nikoleta was very helpful with all the questions thrown at her. All in all, I can't recommend this place enough when you are looking for a unique luxury accommodation with impeccable service. Huge thank you to everyone who made our stay special....
Read moreI doubt you will find a more perfect suite in Santorini. We spent our honeymoon in Greece with Santorini as the highlight, and our stay at Ikastikies Suites was flawless. These cave house-style suites are spacious, well-appointed, and very comfortable. Ours had a large private pool (perfect after a day of hiking or walking around Fira), kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and breakfast served every morning. The suites are in an ideal location, tucked into the quieter area of Firostefani, steps away from two of the best restaurants on the island, but only a short walk to the action in Fira.
Every sunset in Santorini is an event. Nobody can adequately explain it, and pictures fall short; it’s just something you have to experience. These suites are so ideally situated that there is no need to travel to Oia or search for that perfect spot in the evening. As you relax on your outdoor patio, the sun sets right in front of you! It is nothing short of spectacular.
The accommodations are superb, but what really sets this place apart from the hundreds of choices in Santorini is the staff. The owner, Giorgos, is an enthusiastic supporter of the island, its history, and Greek traditions, even making and sharing wine from local grapes (delicious, by the way!), and is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He welcomed us with open arms and made sure our stay was perfect in every way. The manager, Nikoleta, was equally accommodating and always available to help us in any way possible. She was the ideal host, adding to our experience each time we spoke with her.
The right staff can make or break a vacation, but when people you don’t know can make you feel like part of their family in only a few days, you know you’ve found something special. We have already started planning a return trip to Greece and will stay with our new friends at Ikastikies...
Read moreGreat location with very nice caldera views, but be aware that there are a lot of steep stairs to climb. Service was the minimum you would expect, particularly on arrival, very friendly hotel manager who did an impressive job carrying luggage up and down all the stairs, and the accommodation was clean and nicely decorated. The umbrellas are not strong enough to left open if its a little breezy since the owner will come and close them. The hotel-arranged airport transfer was nearly £50 and the driver was extremely unfriendly, non-communicative and quite frankly not someone you would want giving your guests a first impression of Santorini and your hotel. This driver exchanged no greeting and rushed off to her car making us struggle to keep up, made us walk in intense hot sun along a busy unsafe road that was hard to wheel luggage over and then weave through numerous parked cars with heavy luggage instead of bringing the car to us, unbeleivable. Once we were inside the car she turned her music up for the journey. Given that this was part of the service facilitated by the hotel, I have reflected this in the overall service rating. Santorini has more affordably priced accommodation than this hotel, Ikastikies is priced higher that you need to pay. Breakfasts were pleasant enough but somewhat repetitive with some items and they don't ask you what you would like )i.e. if you want eggs and how you would like them done). It isn't a buffet breakfast so you pretty much get what you're given, bearing in mind the high price you pay per night this aspect should be better. The pool is very deep with no shallow end, this wasn't mentioned in the listing and quite unusual for a pool. It is not ideal for a lot of people and certainly not suitable if you have...
