A little bit of a tight space in the dorm rooms, but everything else was fantastic. Staff very jovial and friendly, bathrooms cleaned regularly, lanchas available when you are ready to go explore flores, food made fresh, coffee a little weak, fresh drinking water mostly available for guests. Great view of sunset and flores. Beautiful dock and restaurant area to chill with friends, get to meet other guests, get some sun bathing, have a day or midnight swim, and walking distance to el mirador, the love tree, chechenal beach, a few hikes with great views, the museum, and a few little pop up restaurant and shops from peoples homes. People are very friendly and san miguel is a little cheaper as well as a great place to rest. Its a vibe of its own surrounded by flower bushes and plants. Access to the kitchen when its available and not being used for restaurant. Would recommend 2 days here to get the feel.

We stayed two nights at the Casa de Grethel. And it was an awesome experience. At first glance the casa is far from downtowm Flores and difficult to reach, but it turned out to be an excellent location to stay. Away from the crowd and traffic. It was really easy to take the dedicated boat back and forth to the casa. It gives you a real holiday feeling to stay at the casa as it is located at the waterside. All crew members of the casa are really friendly. Free coffee and water is fantastic. The rooms are clean and are maked up every day. Lot of room to chill outside and inside the casa. Would definitely recommend Casa de Grethel to everybody who stays in Flores, and would like to go to see the Maya ruins at Tikal and Yaxha.

Lovely hostel with lovely staff who went above and beyond for us. The air conditioning is really good in the rooms and there is a hot water which is hard to find in hostels in Central America. They have a boat service for 10q to Flores and back (5 min trip). I really reccomend staying here it’s very homely and great value for money. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean. Stay here instead of the hostels on Flores Island, you won’t reget it.

I stayed there for 2 nights. The hostel is on the other side of the lake, which makes it very difficult to enter the hostel. You are very dependent on the small boat, that the hostel has to reach the location. So, whenever you want to go to flores, you need to wait for somebody to give you a ride. Whenever you are in flores and want to go to the hostel, you need to find a place with wifi or to call the owner in order for them to send the boat. This is some kind of a pain and gives you no flexibility at all. You can also reach the the hostel by public boat, which will cost you everytime 5 quetzales. The staff was friendly but they seem to not be able to manage a hostel. When I arrived they told me that there was some kind of issue with the booking platform and that the hostel was overbooked. After a long time they found a way to arrange it anyway. Furthermore, I had loads of problems with the staff as they are not really taking it seriously in my opinion. Customer-relationship is horrible. One day they brought me to a nearby spot to spend some hours sunbathing. I told the boat driver to come and get me at 6pm again as the sunset was then. He came with a 50 minute delay and left me waiting in the darkness all alone at this spot and didn’t even apologize. He only said, that many people checked in at this moment. That’s not how you treat your clients. Apart of these issues, the staff was friendly and the hostel was in good condition eventhough too expensive for what you receive. I heard from several similar issues with this hostel and would therefore not recommend it. I would rather stay somewhere in flores...
