The good:||Good value compared to other hotels in Antigua. Breakfast included. Beautiful courtyard. Very clean rooms. Well kept facilities.||The not so good:||They got confused and assigned us a standard room the first night when we had paid for a Junior suite. They gave us a 50 dollars refund for that.||The Junior Suite (Room 110) faces the street, next to the hotel there is a mechanics shop, hence noise. In general avoid room 110 as it is next to the breakfast area.||Not a good hotel to sleep. Noisy in the morning.||The three rooms we spent time in, had problems draining the shower water, probably old plumbing.||The staff was very attentive but you have to give them detailed instructions and follow up for elementary tasks (I am fluent in Spanish, so not a language barrier problem), they are basically understaffed and the front desks have to do it all specially at night.||The hotel is far from the main square walking back at night the streets can be deserted and not...
Read moreOur tour group selected this hotel- as usual, a good combination of a reasonable walk to the main square but set apart from the commotion. The rooms center around a courtyard with beautiful plantings and tables set up for conversation. There’s a spiral staircase leading up to the roof from the second floor. Good for volcano viewing!||No elevators that I noticed. Coffee, hot water, cold water and lemon pound cake all available 24/7. ||The room was attractive but the only natural light was from the picture window in the sleeping area- not very private! No bedside lamp, which would have added some light. Bathroom needed more space, maybe a shelf, to store toiletries.||Breakfast was good, with traditional local options and the usual eggs, meats and cheese.||This is a good place to get laundry done- they charge by the pound, it’s very reasonable and it’s done...
Read moreI had an amazing stay at Hotel Genesis. The hotel is a little hard to find. Both our uber driver and us found it difficult when driving/ walking using google maps but it did not take us long to find it. The hotel is quaint and possibly the dreamiest hotel I've ever stayed at. The courtyard is the best part and makes the perfect backdrop for phots. The rooms were clean and bathroom was bigger than expected. I did find the beds to be a little hard. You can hear the noise of other guests but for most of our stay everyone was quiet. They serve breakfast in the morning that includes eggs, beans, fruit, and toast along with juice, tea and coffee. They also have tv's and ac in the rooms. Stay here for a relaxing,...
