Mozata Restaurant offers a glimpse into Lebanese cuisine with some truly shining stars and a few dishes that miss the mark. As a food blogger, I'm always on the hunt for authentic flavors, and Mozata delivered in certain aspects, particularly with its vibrant appetizers and satisfying main courses. The original tabbouleh was a standout. Its bright, zesty lemon flavor perfectly complemented the incredibly fresh ingredients, making for a truly enjoyable start to the meal. Equally impressive was the moutabal batenjan, which exceeded expectations with its rich and smoky profile. These two appetizers alone are reason enough to visit Mozata. However, not all dishes hit the same high notes. The cheese rkakat and arayes were somewhat underwhelming and didn't quite capture the same depth of flavor as their counterparts. Similarly, the lemonade was forgettable. Moving on to the main courses, both the lamb brochette and the shish taouk were well-executed and satisfying. While not as exceptional as the tabbouleh or moutabal, they certainly redeemed the less successful dishes. A definite highlight of the entire meal was the freshly baked bread, which added immense value and elevated the overall dining experience. The freshness of all the ingredients was consistently apparent, a testament to the kitchen's commitment to quality. From a value perspective, the pricing at Mozata felt appropriate, with the flavor, taste quality, and quantity of the meals justifying the cost. While the food had its highs and lows, there's also room for improvement in the overall dining experience. I'd recommend that the staff cultivate a warmer, more welcoming demeanor, starting with a genuine greeting and a smile. Enhancing the atmosphere to better reflect and celebrate Lebanese culture would also greatly enrich the customer experience. Despite these minor points, Mozata offers a flavorful journey through Lebanese cuisine with some definite must-try dishes. I look forward to seeing how they evolve and refine...
Read moreMozata is not just any Lebanese restaurant. Mozata is THE Lebanese restaurant in Budapest.
I wish I could give them 7 stars.
The location is perfect. The restaurant beautifully designed and decorated. Always clean, always a good vibe.
The staff are simply excellent. They always ensure that the quality, taste, and presentation of the food and beverages are up to high standards. They further ensure that the experience is unforgettable.
The foods are delightful in every way. Fresh, flavourful and very filling.
I am in love with the Labneh Beiroutieh, the Tabbouleh and the Falafel. There is also a garlic dip whose silky-smooth texture and fresh, and aromatic flavour can only be explained by Chefs using magic.
Everything produced by this restaurant is crafted with care and it really shows. Please continue being amazing!
Mozata does deliver, and you may also place an order and pick it up for yourself. Everything is meticulously packaged in containers that resemble the dishes so that you may experience dining in Mozata at home.
The only recommendation I have for Mozata from the most recent occasion of takeaway is that the French fries should be packaged in boxes with vents so that the steam doesn't ruin their crispness.
Apart from delivery, pick-up and dining inside the restaurant, there is also shaded seating outside.
Me and my family have become regular patrons since the restaurant opened and we always look forward to our next visit.
I cannot recommend Mozata highly enough.
Everyone who is even just a little bit interested in Lebanese cuisine should visit...
Read moreA trip to Budapest isn't the same without a meal at Mozata. It's more than a Lebanese restaurant: it's a labour of love, with the passion evident in its beautiful interior design, its inviting and friendly menu (every dish has a person's name attached to it), and its upbeat staff who are happy to chat and recommend their favourites, like Csenge, who served my table this evening and helped me find my new favourite main and dessert.
The food is bright and fragrant, and it's one of those rare places you really want to try EVERYTHING out at least once. My new favourite is the Lahme Ras Asfour bel Nah Nah, featuring meat roasted in a divine pomegranate and molasses sauce - something so rich, sweet, sour and unique I don't think I'll find it anywhere else. For the drinks, I always have to go for their bespoke house 1L lemonade to share - and while you need a particular palette to enjoy it, Pomegranate and Star Anise lemonade is a real treat to taste. To top it all off, all desserts are made in-house, and it makes phenomenal dishes like the Festkiyeh (the pistachio dessert pictured) worth the extra money and extra calories at the end of the meal.
I would never consider myself a particular fan of Middle Eastern cuisine, but Mozata has inspired me to explore new horizons - and between the family, friends and partner (it's our go-to date night place now) that I've brought, I know I'm not the only one. If you just want food, this place is great; if you want an experience composed of a real passion for cuisine, service and camaraderie, this...
