Awful experience! As we entered the restaurant the waiters did not even acknowledge us. We had to ask where we could sit and when we did ask the waiter didn’t even speak, he pointed outside.

The food took 40 minutes to come. The food was nice however the attitude of the staff completely ruined our experience.

When the bill arrived I noticed an additional fee for service charge so I asked the waiter about it, I explained to him that I did want to pay the service charge. He immediately became extremely aggressive towards me and said I had to pay it otherwise he would call the police. At this point I was very scared as he the man was being very intimitading towards me and my wife, shouting at us in a busy restaurant. It was awful! I got my phone out and told him I was recording everything and at this point he got even more angry and started swearing at me, telling me to f*uck off out of his restaurant.

We paid our bill and made our way for the door when another waiter approached me and threatened to beat us up if I don’t delete the video.

STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT. they complete ruined my holiday as I was scared of bumping into these thugs whilst...

This is one of the worst places to eat in. Quality of food is very bad mostly not well prepared or been sitting there for days. Please be careful though it might be tempting to try this Falafel or Hummus. I highly don’t recommend it. my family got sick from the food and it’s a waste of money. There are other restaurants in budapest that offer similar menu I suggest u try them instead of this one. other than the food I saw extreme racist behaviour from all staff against certain people specially those from countries that do not agree with Syrians. if you dare to go to this place I suggest u keep recording everything as u maybe a target of some racist comment or behaviour and you want to have an evidence of this for police. regardless of racism. The food literally old or have been served to others before. You can easily tell it’s old not fresh. Hummus had dry parts. Soup was very bad. Falafel like it wasn’t even fried. Salad been sitting in fridge for days. Meat smells weird. very disgusting place. I don’t recommend it all it will...

This is a Syrian restaurant. Food wise pretty similar to Turkish type food. Ambience is good. But that’s about it. Im not sure why people Have give it a rating of 5 or even a 4. The food quantity is extremely small compared to the price. We had dolma (4 pieces) for 1900Ft. That is horrendously expensive even if the the restaurant is in the city. We had horse bean yougurt salad (Bithina) 2750Ft, which was good but once again small for the price. The waiter recommended to get our dishes as a single platter which we did. And id not recommend that, as they decrease the food quantity and didn’t even serve pickles. (Pics attached) The platter included chicken skewers 2 tiny pieces (3750Ft), lamb skewers 4100Ft (over charged as others have recommended they do. ) Chicken wings were 3750Ft. Then I had lamb chops (4 pieces) 7000Ft. Ridiculously expensive. French fries were 450Ft. Drinks were 850Ft. Overall bill 30105Ft. This place is not recommended at all. For This price you can have a very decent meal some where else....

Laid back restaurant with lots of potential to be a great spot for nice traditional Syrian food. There was way more staff than customers, so it’s a shame that it took them forever to get our bill after we were ready to go just waiting at our table right in the front inside of the restaurant for maybe 10-15 minutes. They have a large selection of food which is all prepared already with the exception of things like kebab which of course they roast on the spot. The baba ganoush had good flavor, well seasoned, served room temperature. The pita was good and filling and but baklava was so small and unsatisfying. Maybe a 3 x 3 cm square cut into smaller squares, I wish it was a bit softer and room temp instead of cold. The still water here was 1000Ft but I guess that’s to be expected on the “posh” strip of Budapest. I think we would have gotten a bit better service if we had purchased more food, but we were on our way to our next venue and just stopped for the smallest bite to eat. That is no excuse for poor service though.

**Title: A Taste of the Middle East in Budapest** **Rating: 5/5** **Review:** Al Amir is a gem in Budapest's culinary scene, offering a delightful journey through Middle Eastern flavors. The moment you step in, you're welcomed by a cozy ambiance and friendly faces. Their menu is a treasure trove of Middle Eastern delights. The falafel platter is a must-try, with crispy falafel and creamy tahini sauce that leaves you wanting more. And don't miss the lamb tagine – it's tender, aromatic, and served with fluffy couscous that's simply divine. What truly sets Al Amir apart is their fantastic service. The staff is passionate and helpful, making sure you have the best dining experience possible. For a taste of the Middle East in Budapest, look no further than Al Amir. It's a culinary adventure you won't soon forget. Highly recommended!
