Pro's: If you're looking for a unique and slightly quirky place to stay close to M.G. Road, this hotel offers an unusual ambiance filled with plants, fairy lights and Moroccan inspired tiling set within terracotta and wood textures.
The rooms are huge (think space for two double beds, two dining tables and chairs, plus space to go for a short jog if you're feeling energetic), and the bathroom is large enough for a family of four to use it all at the same time, provided you really like each other. The staff behind reception are cheery and helpful.
Breakfast is mostly Indian style with a limited selection but we really enjoyed it. The alternative was white toast with tomato sauce.
Con's: Although the rooms are larger, they don't feel clean. We had a giant cockroach and mosquitoes pay us a visit frequently and the room smelt very strongly of mothballs, some of which were in the bathroom sink from the day of check-in. On the evening of check-in, the bellboy showed us to our room and proceeded to spray it dramatically with air freshener which smelt like a toilet... Not what you were hoping for when you arrive late at night and want to go to sleep.
We found it difficult to communicate with anyone else that works in the hotel, outside of the reception staff, which is unusual in Bangalore considering the excellent English we experienced with the majority of people working in tourism across the city.
For those that love listening to Christmas music all year round, you're in for a treat. The hotel plays Christmas songs with no lyrics on repeat from early in the morning through to close to midnight on most days, even in August. This drove us close to insane and it became a running joke by the time we checked out and moved to another hotel.
Overall, we would stay here again if the cleanliness was attended to and if the rooms felt (and smelt) cleaner as we enjoyed the atmosphere and quiet location, minus the...
Read moreUpdate 6 Sept We tried reaching out to Joanna today for a follow up on our pending money and were informed that since we wrote this review, they will not refund the money back until this review is removed.
This is after we were told in all our previous conversation with her that the money has been refunded last week and that the transaction ID will be provided via email. They even got into an argument on how our email shared was wrong and how we shouldn't raise our voices coz we are the customer
Fraud Alert
This place should be avoided at all costs. We booked the place for 3 nights starting 26 Aug and paid upfront during checkin. When we entered the room it was all in shambles and the linen was super dirty with hair and dirt all across them. We asked to move out the same night at 6 PM without staying for even a full day/night. We were assured that the amount for 1 night would be deducted and the remaining amount for 2 nights would be transferred back to our account. Cut to today, 6 September, and we have been chasing them for the last 2 weeks and all they say is the money has been transferred to our account (WHICH IT HAS NOT), they haven't provided us with a simple transaction ID, assuming because the transfer has not actually been made.
Please beware of Joanna (not sure if this is the right spelling) who is at the other end of the phone and keeps shutting down our request for a civil end to this scenario and keeps repeating that the money has been transferred (as if i won't be able to see said money in my...
Read moreHad booked it online after reviewing few hotels in the vicinity. However when we reached, close to midnight, we were received by a watchman who was sleeping at the gate. ||||Entry was more like a horror movie experience with old watchman taking us to an antique fort door which opened to a big hall like room. ||||Once inside the room itself was huge with all necessary amenities but room was hot and mosquitoes flying around. Also the size of the room and one a/c in it didn't look convincing to cool the entire room during the day time either. ||||We had an elderly person with us and hence had issue to step in and out of bathroom as the floor level had huge variance. It was not practical for people who cant climb easily or has trouble in walking. This wasn't visible in the site. ||||In the end within 5 mnts we had to walk out without much reconsideration even at 1230 in the night. ||||Called the manager the next day and explained the situation as the complete payment for two nights was already made due to online booking. But to no surprise, no concession nor any refund was provided eventhough he said will check and revert. ||||So be careful when booking this property for spooky feeling and climb up and down to the bathroom...
