Yauatcha has been my favourite not just as a Dimsums and tea house but also for their fantastic lamb preps, and creamy soups and their classic fried rice that’s so flavoursome, and the taste has remained consistent over serval years of dining here.
I have always wanted to bring family here and on a recent visit for a celebration meal we three came here. They loved the lunar menu specials, but the sweet corn with shredded chicken soup from the regular menu won wifey’s heart.
The Chicken & Shrimp Shui Mai was beautifully made and was my absolute favourite but didn’t impress wifey and daughter much.
The classic fried rice with chicken wowed everyone, as expected and that flavour has remained so consistent over the years.
The dessert was Pecan and coffee delice, beautiful layers or Pecan sponge, with caramel cremeaux, and a coffee mascarpone mousse served with pecan nut ice cream that was a hit.
The biggest compliment that has come from family has been that they want to visit this place again, so for me it’s a win.
The price is definitely on the higher side, but for this taste and quality it’s definitely a value for money recommendation that I vouch for #apjprecommends

Whenever I converse about yummy Dimsums I had at ‘A’ Chinese Restaurant, one of my friend always used to refer me to the Dimsums she had at Yauatcha and says nothing beats that. While I had been waiting for a wonderful opportunity to visit Yauatcha, one landed early last year to have a lovely lunch to celebrate a team’s success.
When arrived there, we were promptly directly to a nice and cosy table and handed over the menu. From there on, till the end, the service was very prompt and efficient. With such high expectations on the Dimsums, we obviously ordered them first. Too eager, we ordered quite a few varied bamboo boxes of vegetarian and non-vegetarian Dimsums. And then….
Looking at the dim sums, we came to a realisation that Yauatcha’s London outlet is a Michelin Star Dimsum and Dumpling tea house. The Dimsums looked picture perfect, and so beautiful, that I was afraid to eat them. I really did not want to ruin such a beautiful dish. But the aroma led me to pick one and savour it, and I sensed absolute bliss. I totally understood what my friend was trying to imply, these definitely were one of the best Dimsums that have had in the recent past. The Crystal Shrimp Dumpling is definitely worth mentioning here, it is absolute, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness.
Moving away from Dimsum and Dumpling heaven, the mains that we ordered was equally drool-worthy. We had ordered the Fried Rice with a Lamb Stir Fry and the Black Bean chicken as sides. It’s a whole refreshing taste from the regular Chinese fare you are widely exposed to. The flavors were balanced, with the right amount of seasoning and very light on the palate.
Then came Desserts….
We had the Chocolate & Hazelnut flavoured profiterole and a Cheese cake, again the presentation was top notch, too bad we had to ruin it to enjoy the dessert.
Quick Summary – Perfect service at a cosy ambience, with authentic Dimsums & Dumplings, down to earth Chinese cuisine, paired with out of the world desserts
It was a perfect meal and an absolute pleasure dining at Yauatcha, looking forward to many...
Read moreThe experience at Yauatcha was incredible ... At par with my expectations, but marred by a single dish!
Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun - what a start to the menu! It is the kind of perfection we expected from the restaurant. Perfectly silky thin rice paper rolls wrapped around batter-fried prawns that was Crispy till the last bite! The batter itself was flavourful, the prawn was fresh, and the seasoned soy sauce made it the star of the show.
Scallop Prawn Siu Mai - it was a delicious dish on its own, although didn't match up to the level set by the first dish. The scallop was fresh, although the mild flavour was slightly overpowered by the fish roe & the prawn filling. It was stuffed with minced prawn and reminded me of the flavours you'd find in a Singaporean hawkers' Lobster Balls - which deserve a Michelin of their own!
Crispy Aromatic Duck - this was such a disappointment, it almost overshadows the joy the dishes that preceded it. The batter on the duck was oily and tasteless. The duck itself was dry and chewy, and while the waiter told us it's supposed to be had steaming hot, but even cold, a dish might lose its texture but not the flavour. And this preparation had no flavour at all. Now that I look back on other reviews which consistently share the same experience as mine, I would recommend the chefs to remove this from the menu or revisit the dish, at the least! The sauces and pancakes could do nothing to salvage the dish as a whole.
Giving myself a couple of days to get over the disappointment of the last dish we had, I think I would still go back to try other dishes from the place and the Cheung Fun, for sure! But this time I'm definitely going to check the reviews first. Besides the food, the service was impeccable, the ambience was great for a minimalistic fine dining restaurant, and the location is of course perfect - for city folks and for visitors staying in the nearby...
Read moreVisited this place sometime back to try their Supreme Taste of Yauatcha menu which is valid only on weekdays. The place has sent a benchmark for years now and continues to serve delicious food altogether. The interiors are clam and classy and the mood sets in on for an upscale fine dine place.
The Supreme Taste Of Yauatcha In cocktails, we tried the Golden Ging which is a concoction of Ballentine's finest, tea infusion and orange bitters.
🔹This meal starts with Hot and Sour soup with shredded chicken which was well cooked and soothing. 🔹The second course involves a Salad with lotus root and vinegar punch with a light dressing. The salad was refreshing and ecstatic. 🔹The dimsums were the highlight of the meal with serves of various combinations. I personally loved the Hargau and Pork and Prawn dumpling which was well stuffed and made. 🔹In vegetarian option, I personally liked the shiitake mushroom dumpling which had a sweet-sour filling of veggies and mushrooms. The vegetable crystal dumpling was another option to go for. 🔹The main course saw a plethora of options to choose from Stir fries, noodles, and rice. 🔹My personal favorite has to be Kung Pao Chicken with the sour sauce which was delicious and Steamed sea bass in a spicy sauce with veggies. This went well with Ho Fan noodles( flat noodles ) and asparagus fried rice.
🔹The desserts stole the show with some amazing options to choose from. My personal favourite has to be Red Fruit Fromage which a raspberry sorbet and pistachio sponge. Another favorite of mine was the Rasberry delice with dark chocolate mousse and lychee flavors.
Yauatcha never fails to surprise with their mains and desserts and I have always been a fan of it. Pricing of this meal is very affordable for...
