Took 4 attempts to finally get a table at this very sought-after premium Thai restaurant at the Oberoi with alfresco-style seating around a wood-centred decor true to it's South Asian theme. Service is mostly exceptional, and I must add - very personal. We were welcomed warmly and seated at tables of our preference. We were recommended just the right kind of starters based on our requests and the Goong Phad Kratiem Prik Thai Dum - stir fried prawns, and the Gai Hor Bai Toey - chicken fried in Pandan Leaves were brilliant, and the proportions were generous. The mocktails we ordered were nice too, the Bang Kok and the Mint Julep. Again spoilt for choice and looking for recommendations, we ended up ordering the Gai Phad Med Mamuang - wok fried chicken, the Seua Rong Hai - grilled beef along with the Khao Phad Karpow - Fried Garlic Rice and although thoroughly satiated and stuffed to the gills, still ended up ordering the fried bananas and coconut influence - amazing desserts to crown an already great meal. A five figure bill without alcohol is something I'm not used to, but an exceptional once in a blue moon experience like this was worth it. I'm nitpicking, but a few minor things were a bit off and it would be unfair not to mention them here... firstly, not changing plates between courses was odd, and then it was awkward to witness a strange breakdown in communication between the wait staff and kitchen which got a bit loud at times, and was causing visible annoyance to a few customers whose food was delayed quite a bit. Finally, they were thoughtful enough to bring us a beautiful chocolate mousse cake to help us celebrate an occasion - complimentary, of course - but just after we'd finished the two desserts we had ordered! This put us in this strange position that we tried (and failed) to consume it (we hate to waste food) being absolutely full... would obviously have been great to have been offered the cake before our dessert orders were logged in, but I'm guessing the chaos around the kitchen contributed at least a little bit to this confusion. These would be things I'd ignore in a regular restaurant but not in one that is this close to perfect. Still close enough to perfect to deserve 5 stars! Special mention for Akshay Chonkar and Anoshk Singh - great job by you and your team, keep up...
Read moreWe, a group of 7 including a 3 year old, visited the Rim Naam on the 19th of November. We had booked the place well in advance as getting a reservation was difficult. As per online reviews we had very high hopes about the food and service.
Service Service was a disaster, not something you expect from a 5 star restaurant -There were at least 5 or 6 different waiters who were catering to our table, none of them had an idea of what we ordered or the status of the food. -Immense delay in getting the food to the table. -The main course was served almost 40 minutes after the starter. -We had requested dumplings for the toddler and requested the team to bring this first. The team informed that the dish would take 20 minutes to prepare, forty minutes after we placed the order. The dumplings were received last, almost 1 hour 15 after ordering. By this time we had a very cranky toddler. -There were mismatch in the items ordered and delivered. -We had ordered 2 portions of grilled tenderloin, one portion came with the rest of the mains while the other came after we were done eating. By this time we were done with the meal, and asked them to take it back. -Even to get a glass of water we had to ask multiple times. After instructing we wanted cold water we were given warm water. -The entire team seemed super confused and looked like a bunch of headless chickens running around without a clue of what is happening. -They had no reasoning for the delays or the mismatch in the dishes ordered. -Truly less than a single star experience.

-Overall a very unpleasant experience not something you expect from an Oberoi property. -Our displeasure was shared with the Manager and we offered a 25% discount on the total food bill.

Read moreExtremely Disappointing – Overpriced and Not Worth It
I had an extremely disappointing experience at Rim Naam at Oberoi last weekend. Given its reputation as a Thai restaurant, I expected authentic flavors, but the food was far from it. For a bill of ₹9,000 for just two people, the experience was shockingly bad.
Food Quality & Taste – Below Average
The Thai curry was completely Indianized, which was a huge letdown. If I wanted an Indian-style curry, I would have gone to an Indian restaurant. Authenticity was missing, and the flavors were poorly balanced.
The Som Tam (Green Papaya Salad) was pathetic—lacking freshness, crunch, and the signature Thai flavors. It tasted stale and unappetizing.
The Hed Phad Stir Fry (mixed mushrooms) was absolutely terrible—not only did it taste bad, but it also had a foul smell. After eating it, I experienced an allergic reaction, which makes me question the freshness and hygiene of their ingredients.
The only saving grace was the Thai-style almond cake, which was decent. But one good dish doesn’t make up for an overall bad meal.
Service – Uninformed and Unhelpful
The servers had very little knowledge about the dishes, ingredients, and allergens. Every time we asked a question, they either gave vague answers or had to check with the kitchen. In a fine dining restaurant, I expect the staff to be well-trained and confident in explaining the menu.
Ambiance – Decent but Not Worth the Price The ambiance was okay but nothing extraordinary. Given the ₹9,000 bill, I expected both the food and service to match the upscale setting, but neither did.
Final Verdict – Overpriced and Not Recommended
₹9,000 for two people for food this bad is unacceptable. This was a terrible dining experience, and I definitely would not recommend it. There are far better Thai restaurants in the city that offer authentic flavors, better service, and fresh ingredients. The food was overpriced, inauthentic, and, in my case, even caused an allergic reaction. Save your money and...
