We had booked a 2 night stay for this guest house and had confirmed with them they would pick us up at the airport in Denpasar. (A service they advertise to have.) Upon arrival in the airport there was no sign with our names, and after one hour and a call later, we got a text telling us they forgot, asking if we could get our own transportation. (Not an easy task with many dubious taxi drivers around the airport.) Not a good start. Upon arrival at the guest house, there was no mention of their mistake. We were shown to our room, which was very decent for the price and has a large soft bed. This bed is however extremely unfit for any other activities than sleeping, as very loud sounds are produced by slight movement of the bed. The people were friendly, but seemed a bit apathetic. On a positive note, the breakfast was very nice, and included. And the beautiful clean pool was a real treat in the hot weather. All in all we still had a good stay, but I'm not sure it warrants a recommendation due to the aforementioned issues.

We stayed two adults and two small kids at Rumah Roda on two occasions. First for five days as our first stop in Bali and then for 3 more days as our very last stop on our five months journey through SE Asia. Rumah Roda is a very special place with a very big heart and we really felt at home here. Darta, Eddie, Wayan and everyone else do their best to give you an honest and enjoyable time in Ubud. We had some really good and lengthy conversations with Eddie that we really enjoyed. Thanks! The location in unbeatable in Ubud. You're close to the action but the house is on a small street with lots of good places to eat, shop, have a massage etc. The house and yard is peaceful and there's even a pool to cool off in. We highly recommend this place if you're not looking for luxury but a beautiful and honest place run by the nicest people.

We visited this family in 1979 and the experience of the family and culture influenced our lives thereafter. Revisiting now has been a joy to find the next generation thriving and still bringing the magic of Bali to newcomers today. The family and staff are so friendly and helpful, the restaurant is great and the rooms are spacious, air conditioned and clean. The pool is so clean and refreshing and make sure you take a walk or at least a talk with Darta who is a great source of cultural knowledge and wisdom.
