What a terrible experience. We booked a standard double room for two nights. We arrived and you walk through a dirty building and go up in a filthy elevator. We were then taken to our room which had a smell of fried food due to that the kitchen fans were all outside our balcony door. In other words you couldn’t open the window so we obviously were not able to stay there. We asked for either a refund or a different room. They had a superior double available with a street view. They offered it to us as long as we paid extra for it. They said that the price of the first room justifies the smell. We moved into the new room and expected to pay the extra amount. The room looks ok at first. It seems clean and comfortable. Night came and we then realized that the bed had a cotton blanket instead of a feather duvet as you would assume in January. We were cold. Also, as I was sitting on the toilet I noticed a line of some old bodily fluid that was down the exterior part of the toilet bowl. Disgusted!!! The next day as I told the reception that we were cold and asked for a duvet. The person at reception laughed as if I had told him a joke and said that they would let housekeeping know. Later that evening we arrived back at the hotel to find a duvet WITH NO DUVET COVER folded on top of our bed. At this point I thought that someone must be kidding us until wait… the next morning I found a cockroach walking around our bathroom. I nearly died and ran out to reception. The person said that it has never happened before and that they clean the rooms every day. No apology. No NOTHING! Upon check out I complained about the cockroach and he said that there is nothing they can do for us and that we had to pay the extra fee for the “upgrade” and that it would have helped if I had TAKEN A PICTURE OF THE COCKROACH!! At this point we were so ready to go. That we just paid whatever it was they wanted and left. The breakfast at the bitty caffe was nice and the people working there were very kind. Also the location of the...
Read moreGorgeous little boutique hotel, just 7 rooms on one floor. High spec with fancy lights. Bed could’ve been better as they had a mattress topper that was shorter than the mattress which was slightly uncomfortable when I didn’t use any pillows as they were too plump. ||Anyway, to access the hotel you go through a small church archway, immediately next to Cafe Vitti. The hotel is above the cafe. There are 2 short flights of stairs (v easily walkable) and a tiny lift. It’s 5 mins walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain and all the luxury stores and bars and restaurants.|30mins walk to The Vatican and Castel Sant Angelo (both across the river). Superb location. |Travel to the hotel from Fiumicino airport was €14 train ride to Termini then got a bus for 15mins as wanted to continue seeing the view instead of underground metro.| |Giacomo, Rocco and Sara are super lovely hotel staff and really want you to enjoy your stay. They ask about your day and give you tips on where to go and how and will book your airport transfer. ||They gave me breakfast (gratis) which was incredible. It’s at Cafe Vitti and you choose 4 items from a big list and they show you the beautiful selection of choices on display. The food and drink is amazing and all the high class Romans frequent this so it’s definitely a top end cafe.|I had ham and cheese omelette with salad (delicious), chocolate croissant, fresh orange, mimosa, coffee/English breakfast tea. The works. You get so much choice! From 7am-12 which is awesome if you’re not an early-riser. Big shout-out to Patrizio who was a wonderful waiter. ||I had the balcony room which is smaller than the others but it’s very special as you overlook the square which is great for people watching but not noisy. ||This hotel is wonderful and I would stay here again in...
Read moreDisappointing Experience Despite High Rating
I was quite puzzled by the high rating this place received, as my experience was far from satisfactory. Here are the main issues I encountered during my stay:
Initial Room Assignment: We were given a room right next to the entrance door. It was incredibly loud, and we could hear everything happening outside. The room was tiny, had no natural light, and the so-called "balcony/garden" at the back of the building was unpleasant due to the strong smell from the restaurant's extractor fan.
Room Change: We requested to move to a better room because the first one was unacceptable. We had to wait for availability as there are only about 8 rooms in total. To our dismay, we were asked to pay extra for the new room. Although they claimed it was a discounted rate, it felt unfair since the first room was in such poor condition.
On a positive note, the staff was very nice and the location is really good.
Overall, my stay was quite disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience, very pricy in compare to what you're getting. The management should address these issues to meet the expectations set by their...
