After a morning walking, hunger striked. The Caffe Olimpia is just off via del corso. On the small terrace, locals were lunching. The staff directed us to a free table and brought the menu (translated in English), accompanied with a daily menu written on a blackboard (not translated)x We ordered a bruschetta,tonarelli all’amatriciana and tortellini alla boscaiola. The bruschetta came with two bruschette, with a generous serving of tomatoes, a very good example of letting the products shine. The tonarelli were cooked al dente and the sauce was just right, enough to coat but not overwhelming. The tortellini sauce was a balance mix of green peas and mushroom. The serving were generous and left satisfied. This caffe doesn’t pretend to be gastronomic, but it’s simple Italian food, something one could have for their lunch break. The 5 stars, doesn’t mean it is a fancy restaurant and your mind will be blown away by extraordinary flavour, nor will you leave with the waiter being your best mate. It reflects its purpose; a local lunch break with simple and hearty food, the service was efficient and nice. Read moreWe went there with friends to eat, but the food wasnt good at all. We ordered two hamburgers and a carbonara, however we only received the meat of the hamburger, no bread no onion or else. Just the meat and some potatoes, (the photo) the meat didnt taste good either and costed 15€. The carbonara tasted like raw eggs only it tasted so bad. The gentlemen working behind the counter and at the register were super kind and helpful. They actually remembered my order from one morning to the next. This was very refreshing for this American tourist. This was probably my favorite cafe during my whole 2 week trip touring Italy…mostly because it seemed like the locals were here and the people working here...
