Our experience was a disaster from the moment we stepped into the hotel. Greeted by 1 staff behind the counter, no concierge, no security and 3 steps from the sliding door entrance, 4 crooks followed us into this hotel. 2 of of which (a couple) plonked comfortably on the lone sofa in the tiny lobby while the other 2 accomplices attempted to befriend my husband by distracting him, pretending to help with his luggage while his accomplice pickpocketed him from the back. All this took place when I was checking in at the reception!! What ensued was a huge struggle between my husband to wrestle the 2 men while my daughter n I gave chase to the woman accomplice n took her down, taking her bag and scarf as ransom, the woman while struggling pushed me down but thankfully I fell on my knees unhurt. The 3rd man simply ran off when he saw us fighting back and our group ran out of the hotel chasing them. This entire episode took place under the nose of the reception counter staff whose only response was the Italian police are very lenient towards such petty criminals and we would be wasting our time to report this matter to the police! Honestly, we were appalled by his nonchalance but too exhausted from a full day of travelling to argue with him. He offered zero help, totally showing no empathy for his hotel guests and made our group of 9 tired travellers indignant and more upset. Nothing but excuses and refusing to accept any responsibility for the attempted robbery that he had just witnessed. Which leads me to believe that the hotel staff were in cahoots with the 4 pick pockets to have allowed such easy access into the hotel lobby. Something really fishy, all future travellers should really think 10 times to stay here! The next morning, we were thankful to check out and because we did not feel safe to leave our belongings with the reception (rightfully who would?) , we paid 120 euros to store our luggage and back packs, valuables in a room until we departed in the evening.
None of the hotel reception staff were helpful or sympathetic towards us. I wish to name them for the benefit of future travellers :-Ahamed and Edward were the counter staff on duty at night and during the day respectively. The message from them was that it was not their problem and the hotel is not responsible for what happens in their premises. It’s simply the misfortune of travellers to be targeted and everyone can come into the hotel, they cannot stop strangers from entering their premises. Beware of this hotel. We have never felt more unsafe in any hotel such as this one ever.

Read moreThis was our second time in Venice and first time at the Venice Times Hotel.
Upon entering, the lobby is small but quite nice. The gentleman who checked us in was super friendly and very helpful with questions we had.
Our room was ready so up to our room we went. The door was easy to open, but hard to shut so it'd lock. Which is concerning, but after some playing around, would eventually lock.
The fridge in the room didn't go cold at all. You get a couple things in the fridge but they don't replenish during your stay which isn't the best. So you're stuck going out for water or whatever, or pay a premium at the hotel.
The bed was ok, it was a double bed, not a queen. The walls were plain, not artwork or anything. The lotion didn't have a great smell, so I didn't bother using it either. The last issue we had was the walls, you could hear everything through them at night.
The bathroom was quite nice. Not a lot of counter space but the shower was beautiful.
The location was pretty good. It's nice cause it's near the train station and bus station but 40 min walk from Piazza San Marco, which is fine with us but might not be for everyone. No view out the windows, so don't expect one.
Breakfast was pretty good. Compared to the other hotels we went to in Italy, the breakfast was poor, but it is definitely good enough to get you started.
Overall, there were too many negatives to us. Full disclosure, we didn't bring up any of these that the property could remedy because we didn't have a lot of time in Venice so we didn't want to waste the time we did have.
Won't be returning to this property next...
Read moreMe and my partner spent 3 nights at the hotel. The room was very clean and tidy and comes with a free minibar (4 bottles of water, a coke and a sprite with a packet of crisps and 2 milks) the room itself although well presented has no dressing table with a mirror for a lady to get ready and no drawers to put any clothing. There is a waldrobe in which you can hang some clothes and a safe in the bottom if you can figure out how it works. Before arriving I emailed the hotel asking them to put some rose petals on the bed with a box of chocolates which they did and charged 15 euros for this. It was a very nice touch expect I think the chocolate supplied was out of date as some had mould inside! Yes mould! The hotel staff were very helpful and were there is you needed anything throughout the stay or if you want some information before you arrive. The service of the room was not the best, the toilet roll was never replaced! Even once the roll was empty I put the cardboard roll on the toilet seat so they would replace it but they took away the the roll and never replaced it! I had to go take a roll for the toilet in the main hall! They also do not replace the milk so if you like milk with your tea you only got enough for two. The hotel has been newly refurbished and there are still some snagging points you would expect and some work ongoing throughout the day. The breakfast served in the mornings untill 10:30 was good. Overall the hotel itself was okay and the staff were friendly and the location is good as close to all the public transport spots but still has some teething issues it needs...
