Some great things, some not so great.

Great: -location. Fairly close to railway station and bus parking piazza while also walkable (if you can handle walking 20 to 30 minutes at a time, on unenven but flat ground) to a lot of the historic reasons people come to Venice -Room itself is nice, and The A/C works. Also loved being able to open the windows for fresh air when A/C not needed -We paid extra for a welcome aperitivo (little sandwiches and aperol spritz-- you can choose other drinks), as well as breakfast, and those were AWESOME. Honestly, our main reasons for choosing this at a higher price over an airbnb had to do with the breakfast option and location, though we had originally booked an Airbnb about the same distance -They let you store your luggage in a storage room if you arrive before check-in. Otherwise, you would have to pay for storage somewhere, which we have done before. -Nice people

Not so great: -We had no hot or warm water for our shower. After a sweaty travel day or before starting another, that would have been nice to have. Also the listing plays up that particular amenity and its modern options, but I couldn't get anything to work other than water coming out, and random lights(?). Update: the reply from the owner makes it sound as if we did not know how to use the water; I can assure you that we do and did. It seemed to me as if the front desk worker was saying that others did not have hot water this morning either, when I mentioned it at checkout. I think it may have had to do with the number of young people using the showers early in the morning, as I heard them talking at breakfast about having been up for a few hours already, and they all looked freshly showered (wet hair, etc). 😉 The TV cable or what have you was not working. Before you smirk, know that we are not usually watching tv on vacation to other places, except occasionally a few minutes before bed as my husband winds down, and at that point, it's just fun to see commercials in other countries. HOWEVER, not having TV this night was disappointing as we had planned a quiet, relaxed night in before our long journey back to the States, and after seeing signs all over the hotel about their amazing TV service (literally, in so many places, displayed prominently, and in the listing), we were looking forward to the experience. My husband tried for about 10 minutes and then the hotel manager for about 15, before we were told the decoder was not working and no one can be called at night to fix it (understandable, but it seems that might be something they check in room turnover from now on, if they want all to be ready within business hours). So, that was a bummer, and no one offered anything as extra support or to make up for it. Also, it was raining very hard, so walking the streets aimlessly was not really an option even if we had wanted it. -Laborers working below our room until 7 or 8pm which meant, not a quiet evening in. Not to mention the group of around 8 or so teenage girls conglomerating in our hallway--sadly I eventually had to poke my head out and ask if they could keep it down. Felt like an old, mean lady. 😆 but I was nice.

So, would I stay here again? Maybe, maybe not. I think my husband would say no, for himself, at least. If we had had hot water and TV, no problem. It was lovely and fairly convenient, and the people were nice, even if they had no solutions (cue the shrugging shoulders sentiments). I know they can only do so much. -but it does factor into how we choose...

I was very impressed by this hotel - with one small exception. ||For me the location was great as, having seen visitors trying to haul their suitcases over the many bridges towards the busy centre, I was glad of a hotel within a few minutes walk of both the bus and train station. It was also very close to several Vaporetto stops if you didn't fancy the 25 minute stroll to St Marks Square||We had a Junior Suite in the Dependance (Traghetto 1) which is basically an annex just around the corner from the main building. Although it looks tatty on the outside, once inside, it's clean, bright and very modern. The suite consisted a lounge with sky tv and a fun fridge (in which you were allowed to store your own drinks), a bedroom with double bed and a beautiful bathroom. The decor is very minimalist with clear acrylic chairs, metal coffee tables, bedside tables, light fittings and hanging rails. This is where I wasn't so impressed as there was nowhere to store folded clothes. Mine stayed in the suitcase there wasn't a chest of drawers or wardrobe. ||We chose to have breakfast at the hotel and were impressed by the offering. Ara, the wonderful happy young woman who presided over the dining room, delivered a basket of breads and croissants plus a board with cheeses and cold meats to the table and offered a range of coffees. In addition to this there was a buffet table with everything bar a full English breakfast.||All of the staff we met were friendly, spoke English very well and could not have been more helpful. Everything was spotlessly clean and in good condition. I really...

We’ve held off on reviewing but ultimately decided it’s best to share our experience. We got bed bugs from our room 208. The morning after we woke up all 4 members of our family had itchy red marks on our faces and bodies. Honestly we were in denial and didn’t say anything to the hosts. We hoped maybe mosquitos? But as the day went on and we talked about it as a family, we realized it had to be bed bugs as our bodies were covered with blankets. Another concern is the cleanliness. When we arrived, our bathroom mat was quite wet. We asked for a new one which was given right away and the dirty one taken. Also, there were blood marks on my husbands sheets and pillow case. His sheets were not changed. We’re sure of this. They did not come from him. We let host know, but it was not rectified. They said they would look into it but nothing happened. The hotel itself is in a nice quiet and convenient location. And hosts are friendly when arriving. But we definitely question the cleanliness. If that’s important to you, I recommend staying elsewhere. Edit: as the host just responded that they found no blood, I’ve attached the picture my husband took. Maybe host asked cleaner to check and she wasn’t honest? Hopefully host can tell from picture, those are indeed your sheets and perhaps look into the issue deeper. Honesty is always best, even as a business. We were only looking for something along the lines of… “I’m sorry, we’ll make sure this doesn’t happen to...
