Camere Fontanavecchia — Hotel in Vernazza

My sister and I just loved this place in Vernazza. |We arrived a few hours later than anticipated due to a train cancellation, but Annamaria was very good at communicating with me and understanding the situation.|Once we did arrive, Barbara showed us our room which was delightful! The location is away from the main part of town, just up the hill past the police station, about 2min from the train station. It's across the street from the best restaurant, La Pirata, and near a trailhead for hiking. The location is superb and so is this place! Everything was perfect! There was a misunderstanding about my booking three nights, but Annamaria made it right by letting us stay in the apartment in town for our last night! What an awesome experience! Staying in an apartment made us feel like true members of the community! It was wonderful!| Camere Fontanavecchia is in a great location. I highly recommend it for its location, for the great communication with Annamaria, and for the price. It's very quiet at night, and close enough to the train station to catch the train. |We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Vernazza, but as my sister said, the stay was just too short! I agree! We could've stayed in Vernazza a month, and it wouldn't have been long enough.|Thank you to Annamaria for giving us a great place to stay for our first visit...

We must have had the "bad room" compared to the other reviewers.||First, we were surprised to receive a communication the day before our arrival that the proprietor "preferred" that we pay cash. So to be friendly up front, I payed cash but received no receipt. I now regret that decision.||The room was quite small. We had only two carry-on sized suit cases but had to put one under a chair. The shower was even smaller. It was barely okay for us, but some larger people won't be able to get through the door. The furnishings were quite cheap such as a plastic chair and towels with no nap. Our internet worked for only one of our four devices and it was pretty slow. The building is in a quiet part of town but the inside was not always quiet as the wall separating us from our one adjacent room was quite thin.||It was clean and the beds were quite comfortable.||Vernazza is a very cute little town and there aren't a lot of lodging choices so maybe this is as good as it gets. (I hope not!)||On this trip, we stayed at 16 different hotels and this was one of two where we had a sub-standard experience. Our experience wasn't even close to the high ratings that made me choose this place. Would I stay here again? I...

Our 2 day stay at Camere Fontanavecchia in Vernazza was very pleasant. The room is simply furnished but spotlessly clean, safe and very comfortable with a fan which was appreciated as the weather was very warm. The location is great, we were so glad that we chose Vernazza as after visiting the other villages, felt it was the most attractive and had a great beachfront area. Camera Fontanavecchia is in the quieter top end of the village but is only 2 minutes walk to the train station and 5 minutes to the busy beachfront area. There is also a handy bankomat, laundry and a couple of restaurants across the road. We had stored most of our luggage at the La Spezzia train station left luggage as we were worried that we would not be able to negotiate stairs, but actually this was an unnecessary precaution. The hosts were charming, the accomodation certainly excellent value for money and I would recommend to my friends...
