A friend and I stayed at the allArena following a recommendation on the Verona forum from a local Verona expert this week.We had been given Opera tickets and were struggling to find ANYWHERE in Verona during Opera season. The allArena is a small recently opened B+B.Three rooms and two bathrooms.First the positives---well for location this place cant be beat--1 minutes walk to the Opera and also very close to shops cafes and a great gelati shop.Very safe location. The room was small but spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. We had reserved a large twin and were on arrival offered a small double which we regected. The Signora then offered us a second room where the beds could be separated. We had also been assured that we would have exclusive use of one of the bathrooms but on the first night there all three rooms were occupied so we had to share the facility with occupants of one of the other rooms. Not a huge problem but equally not quite what we were promised| Also its important to be aware -No aircon--in a city where Summer temperatures are at about 95 degrees and not much less at night this seems to me an essential.Even a small portable unit would have helped. We found it hard to sleep.|We also found the breakfast a bit disapointing. There is a full kitchen in the apartment(also spotless) and you can help yourself to juice yogurt and cold water. The lady who owns the B+B does not live on the premises but comes in the morning to set the table and make the teas and coffees. She does not provide fresh bread rolls or baked goods.Instead there are individual packs of Melba toast crackers or prepacked sweet rolls together with prepacked pats of butter and jam. There is also fruit available but again not the most appealing or interesting selection. We really felt that some fresh bread for breakfast and perhaps some cereal(not Italian I know) would have made a difference.|The Signora was very friendly and welcoming but her very limited English combined with my nonexistant Italian made communication difficult |Its hard to know how to rate allArena. It has a lot going for it and with a little tweaking could be a really lovely place. Its only been open a couple of months so perhaps the problems will get ironed out.We paid 80 euros a night for our room. For a clean centrally located room with use of a well equiped kitchen at a very fair price its certainly worth...
Read moreI stayed here for one night with a friend, and it was great! Zero complaints. Fabio was very friendly and helpful. This a converted apartment building, and there are 3 rooms with one shared bathroom in the hallway. The B & B is located just 50 steps away from the Arena/Piazza Bra. On the outside it looks ordinary, but inside it is very nice and very clean. Note, the first room on the right as you walk in the door--you will heard birds chirping in the courtyard starting at 5 a.m., but if you have earplugs, it is not a problem. If you are a very light sleeper, try going for the room on the left side.||||If you have a car, he can let you borrow a parking pass that will allow you to drive inside the ZTL and park, free of charge (other B & Bs wanted to charge me 10 euros!). For breakfast, he also gave us tickets for a free breakfast (coffee and croissant) for the cafe downstairs which was really good. The price was very good (40 euros/room single occupancy). I would highly recommend this B & B to everyone, and would definitely stay here again if I return to Verona. (Note: for those of you that are italian language-challenged, if you have your translator tool handy or your italian/english dictionary that would definitely come in handy). Thanks...
Read moreFranco is probably the sweetest, most charming host in Verona. He is genuinely eager for every guest to feel like a VIP and worked hard to make sure that I was comfortable and happy.||There is a shared bathroom (with an actual bath!) which I personally don't mind. There is a stocked kitchen and breakfast is self service.||Franco lives in the apartment opposite and is always happy to help his guests.||Wifi can be occasionally patchy but is generally satisfactory. ||The location is perfect for exploring.||This is not a bland, charmless hotel. It is a charming B&B with character and is quite clearly run with a lot of love and passion.||I would always choose this kind of place over a 3 or 4 star hotel, because no 3 or 4 star hotel...
