Take Ear Plugs - You Have Been Warned! – Corte Realdi Suites / Piazza Erbe, Verona
Corte Realdi is an upmarket concern focused on the beautiful city of Verona, Italy with premium room rates to match. The question is, does the calibre of their apartments with eye catching locations justify that premium?
I stayed in the suite with probably one of the best city views which overlooks Piazza Erbe. The apartment is split over two floors and included a fully equipped kitchen as well as a living room, cosy dining area, bedroom and, of course, a bathroom. It is small. Old buildings in Italian cities often are and came with limited natural light. But, it was clean and comfortable all be it in need of some tlc where scuff marks were concerned. My package included a free limo transfer from the airport (nice) and free breakfast in a Piazza Cafe (orange juice great but the eggs to be avoided so I gave the place a miss from the second day).
The staff at Corte Realdi were polite, helpful and cheery whilst maintaining the air of professionalism that dictates for such a concern.
Now, I know this all sounds good, but why the dire title that probably hooked you into reading this? Sadly, one incident, if badly handled, can ruin all the good work. This happened on the fourth night of my stay. There are bars on the ground floor of this property. Something not mentioned on the website. Although some sound could be heard from them in the evenings it was ignorable with the television on. Until Friday that is. Hip hop music with a heavy bass? Not something I had associated with Verona. It started at 4.30pm and steadily increased in volume until, by 5.10pm, the furniture was literally vibrating. The hotel reception is located in a separate block some two minutes walk away. I messaged them giving a clear picture of how bad it was. This is the reply I quickly received via their business WhatsApp:
'We apologise for that, maybe the bar downstairs put the music a little louder today since it’s friday “happy hour” but this will not continue until late.'
Not the response I was looking for when paying top dollar of 300 euros a night. There then followed a number of equally frustrating messages. Only when I stated I would be finding another hotel for which I would expect them to pay did the penny seem to drop on how badly things had gone wrong.
They finally offered a similar standard of room for the next day away from Piazza Erbe (no view then) and another free transfer back to the airport. With the considerable hassle of moving, that was two days impacted and not much of a holiday feeling left. However, there's more. The real kicker is that they promised to reimburse some of the 1500 euros I had paid by way of compensation. What would you think might be a fair offer? Sadly, we will never know what they deemed to be fair as the moment I left Italy all my WhatsApp messages and emails to them were ignored. That, above all else, is unforgivable.
Corte Realdi Suites were given the opportunity of right of reply. This article concerns Corte Realdi Suites of Verona and no other company of a...
Read moreThis hotel ruined our entire holiday. I NEVER write bad reviews, I truly believe in spreading positivity, but I had to say something after what happened. I was so so so excited to stay at this hotel. We booked our night in Verona after I saw photos of the hotel and fell in love. We made a special detour in our road trip itinerary to come, and decided to splurge to celebrate the end of our holiday and the celebration of our engament with a stay here.
About a month before our stay, I inquired if they had our same room available but one night later (it worked better for or driving schedule) but they said it wasn’t available. They offered me another room, but that room was not in my style and was without balcony, so we decided to keep our originally reservation.
The day of arrival (we left early from our previous hotel so we could enjoy the balcony as much as possible) we received a message from them asking what time we were arriving, when we responded with our timing, they told us that they actually had made an error and in fact sold our room for the night. They believed that we had wanted to change, just because I had inquired about availability the next night, even though I had NEVER confirmed taking their alternative room. I quoted the emails to them and they admitted to their error, but basically offered us a terrible looking room at a very ugly hotel down the street. I can totally understand miscommunications, especially in different language, but what I can’t stand is carelessness. If there had been a miscommunication and they had thought we wanted to switch, why did they not update our reservation? Why did they email us several reminders about our dates of travel etc? Why did they message us that morning and ask about our check in time? It was the Friday of the last weekend of summer of course everything beautiful in this small town was taken.... this was a short trip my fiancé and I had took to celebrate our engagement and this hotel completely ruined it and ruined our one...
Read moreOverall Experience: Deceptive, Misleading Room Photos on Listings, ruined my wedding plans.
We reserved a “Superior Apartment with City View and Terrace” for Aug 27–30, 2025 on Booking.com.
The most deceptive and misleading thing we later realized was that the room type offered consisted of two completely different apartments; however, approximately 90% of the platform's photographs depicted the more aesthetically pleasing option, thereby creating a misleading impression. We reasonably anticipated receiving the aforementioned apartment. Nevertheless, upon arrival, we were allocated a secondary apartment that was outdated and poorly lit, significantly diverging from the primary display photographs. This directly disrupted our wedding photoshoot plans and resulted in substantial mental, physical, and financial losses.
Upon arrival, the hotel required immediate payment in full prior to room assignment. After that we promptly identified the discrepancy and declined to check in. Despite a prolonged in-person discussion with hotel management and attempts to resolve the matter through various means, all requests for compensation or a refund were denied. As the payment was not processed via Booking.com, the platform is unable to issue a refund.
Before booking, no staff member informed us that we needed to select a room type, or that the room type would be changed. I've seen many other reviews on Booking.com mentioning similar experiences.
Sincere advice: If you really want to book here, please confirm with them your desired room type with the hotel and leave proof so that they have no room to play tricks. If you do not do that, you can check my attached photos to check how different the room can be! Avoid deceptive business...
