Avoid that place. While food was ok, the service is atrocious. Waiter was exsesivelly interested in clients before the order. Kept coming and coming in loosing patience while clients were going through the menu. As soon as order is done, waiter is gone and his attention as well. Brought food. That was quickly enough. Plus.
Then the real "service" starts. Bringing oil/balsamic/salt/pepper? Forget about it or have to remind him. He promised to bring it? No remind him again.
That was a rainy day in Verona. Waiters were all busy in moving umbrellas between clients in preparation for coming rain. They keep bothering your through the process without much attention in clients. Umbrellas first!. All done and you may think they prepared everything before the rain starts? One of umbrellas caved in under rain and badly showered clients. Waiter thought that was very funny and instead of helping thouse clients just heehaws about it. With no further attention to them whatsover.
Rain stops. Then next clients came in. They didnt agree on the table with waiter ... and cursing with clients seems be normal here:( and same heehaws. Just utter disrespect.
Time to settle the bill. If you still decided to come and seat here, be carefull if you have a foreign card. Waiter doesn't bother to ask you what currency to settle the bill - local (EUR) or your domestic currency. He just poking into terminal himself without even showing to you and selecting your domestic currency instead of EUR. Well, everyone knows bill to be settled in local currency due to bad exchange rate, but obviously Al Canton doesn't. Anyway, it is simple to ask client what currency he would prefer to settle. Appeared to be not so simple for Al Canton.
Our visit in Al Canton was most disappointing experience...
Read moreUnfortunately, I can’t recommend this place after our recent visit.
While the restaurant is in a beautiful part of Verona and the waiter who greeted us was kind, our overall experience was very disappointing. After we were seated, a woman—dressed in a black turtleneck and blazer—came over and placed two menus on the table without speaking.
When we tried to place our order with her, she told us we needed to wait for the waiter. That was completely fine. However, she then made a comment under her breath that seemed directed at us, which left us confused. As we stood up to leave, she told us (in Italian), “Yes, you better leave,” and proceeded to insult us. When I asked how we were supposed to understand their approach to service, her tone became even more aggressive, and she made a comment that felt quite threatening.
This all happened in front of other diners, and even the waiter seemed unsure of what was going on. The interaction left us feeling very uncomfortable and disrespected.
Verona is a wonderful city, and I wish this experience had matched the warmth we felt...
Read moreThe waiters are polite, but unfortunately this matches not the service and food that you get. The waiter recommended me a beer which I took and the taste was great. However, for the price of 6 Euros I would expect that he tells me the price in advance, or to show me the beverages in the menu. That brings me to the next point: They did not show me the menu and I was not sure whether they don't have one or they didn't want to show it to me. Anyway, I ordered a cheese platter and I got it first without any bread. I said I would need bread to eat it but first they only brought bread sticks. I said I would like to have real bread and they came back with half real bread and again with half of the bread sticks, although I said I don't want to have them! Unfortunately both the bread and also the cheese were not fresh so I can't recommend the food. Also I got the impression that Italians get a better service than foreigners. For these reasons I unfortunately can't...
