I am American stationed / living in Northern Japan and this hotel is great if you want to be immersed into the Japanese culture. It was a quick 10-14 minute walk from the Kyoto Station for me, my wife, and our 15 month old daughter. That traditional tatami room is a must for any additional kids no matter the age. The restaurant workers were on rest days (normal for Japan) so we rented bikes (880yen each) and went exploring. Within a 15-20 minute bike ride you can see a lot of Kyoto from this location. Riding a bike is super easy and normal in Japan so don’t be afraid of it. Honestly what did it for me was the bike rental. Trains and buses yes are super easy but Japan by bike was a first for me (lived in Japan for 3 years now) and it was seamless! Recommend...

The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and modern, with a great bathroom. We had a small issue with the hot water at first, but the staff quickly resolved it.
