What an exquisite taste of ramen. Thick and moist noodle was so easy to tack in, with the unique taste of vinegar and Japanese mustard..! I was staying in 西洞院 for business/weekend break. In a rainy June night , wandering alone, I just wanted to find a cosy place with tasty food. This was situated at a very bottom of the 食彩ろぉじally where tourists wouldn’t find, so it was even more intriguing to me to explore..! But avoid the 3rd restaurant next to this 701 Taresoba everyone!!! as I was arrogantly refused by the owner and his loyal waitress, as it must be 一見さんお断り, as I am not Kyotonian but looked like a stranger (a Japanese living in UK)! I was so shocked by their attitude but was desperate to find a place to eat before a long day on the following day..! absolutely blown away by this place, and a must-try if you’re anywhere near the area!

this is my first time trying ramen without broth, and I never thought I’d like it so much—there is so much good sauce and flavour inside that you’re not missing anything without the broth, in fact it highlights the noodles and meat and everything inside even more.

the service and atmosphere was incredible, and I loved how they give you a cup of broth before the meal to enjoy, as well as giving you ice cold tea (with a pot to pour more if you finish).

we ended up trying the classic soya sauce version, as well as the cold mustard—both were great depending on what mood you’re in.

I’d eat this almost every day if I live here 😂 for now i’ll settle for dreaming about it...

Tucked away at the end of an alley sort of shop, this place serves solely ‘taresoba’ or what I believe is mazesoba. I ordered their lunch special and upsized to large +50Y. The set came with 3 boiled dumplings which is meaty and tasty.

There’s also an English menu instructing you on how to eat. I combined everything as recommended and the end product came out to be as expected something delicious with many flavors layered over each other in sync.

The place was quiet during my visit, I was one of the only 3 customers on a Tuesday afternoon. The staff were noticeably all female, perhaps this is a safe spot for females to dine at.
