Chinese Cafe Eight Akasaka — Restaurant in Tokyo

I came the other day, had a dish of wide noodles with beef, mild spice. Restaurant was pretty busy at dinner timebut it didn’t take too long from ordering from receiving the food. The food was amazing!

Today I was nearby at 10:30 in the morning, thought I’d have that wonderful meal again… restaurant was empty with only a handful of other diners. Staff were not very attentive. It took 25 minutes to cook my order, and it sat there unattended for another 5. Finally got it brought to my table to realize it was not mild spicy like I’d ordered. I didn’t want to wait another half hour for them to redo so I told the waiter the order came wrong and please get me some spicy oil. No apologies, no acknowledgement. I went ahead and ate it but it tasted mediocre without the chilli peppers, spicy oil made absolutely no difference.

As I paid at register, I told the person what happened. Again, no acknowledgement or apologies and not even a simple THANK YOU like you hear all the time in this country….

I’ll probably come again because the dish I previously had was incredible. Mind you, they switched to a QR code ordering system. I’m considering leaving my phone at home and tell the staff I don’t have a working device so they will have them take my order manually, hopefully preventing the same mistake from happening (lack of attention from kitchen staff reading order details).

I honestly wish I could leave zero stars. For those of you thinking of getting duck or another delicious dish after hours, think again. This place isn't really 24 hour regardless of what they promote or any article you've read about this place. They do not have the manpower to operate after 10pm.
